I write this with wet just-showered hair, in a sports t-shirt with yoga pants…and so I feel bit odd raving on about the gorgeous princess collection presented by Monique Lhuillier for Spring 2015. And yet, tonight – I will be slipping into princess-worthy attire, and already I can sense the change I’ll feel when I move into something more luxurious. There’s something about beautiful, feminine clothes. They possess an enigmatic energy that you can never quite grasp, yet totally comprehend.
Bottom line: We all need to dress like a princess on occasion; and I was excited to see Monique Lhuillier bring forth a collection fit for the inner-princess in all of us.
This collection in particular may be a new favorite for me of Lhuillier. It felt other worldly – with obvious influence from Giambattista Valli, Dior, Elie Saab and even at times Valentino. When people tell me New York Fashion Week ‘Just doesn’t have the same caliber of fashion as London Fashion Week,’ I already bat my eyes and shagrin. Now, I have a physical link to pass on to silence the needless argument. (And yes, I’ve actually been told that – multiple times!) (#JealousMuch? #ProudToBeAnAmerican)
Here, Monique Lhuillier presents sophisticated and ethereal beauty. The collection is quite romantic, with soft purples and pinks – kissed by flower embellishments. And yet, while it honors the elegance of the Paris runways, Lhuillier holds her own ground by introducing a iridescent princess that looks like she may be the Princess of Outer Space. (And hey, Star Wars is having a come back so maybe this is intentional!)
I love how broad the spectrum is. It’s a timeless multi-generational collection that would flatter a twenty year-old girl, same as it would a fifty-something. Oh, and of course I just cannot avoid mentioning how much I LOVE the use of purple. Purple is my power color, so – POWER ON Lhuillier, power on.
And what do you think? Are you as impressed by Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2015 Collection as I am? Are you too longing for each piece in your closet?
