MFW : Fendi Spring 2015 Collection

September 19, 2014

Fendi Spring 2015 RTW Collection at Milan Fashion Week

It was basically the crack of dawn when Fendi‘s Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear Collection hit the runways of Milan Fashion Week Thursday, at least in my safe little corn of Eastern Standard Time in America, and oh what a beauty it was to wake up to! I literally sat yawning my way through a cup of coffee, zapping myself awake with each look. It was a Spring collection for the masses – as in, everyone is going to be love this!

The show opened with supermodel (and everyone’s girl crush) Cara DeLevingne walking the runway with in flirty shift dressed, decorated with a cool and mellow print. Hair and makeup match the laid back vibes, with minimal makeup except a pastel liner to the eyes. Cara also sported possibly the SMALLEST handbag known to man, literally. It’s basically like a doll-sized handbag, and while cute, I have to wonder: can you even get an iPhone 6+ into that thing? Because obviously smart phones growing to tablet-size proportions, (are we soon going to make calls from our iPads?) we have to be aware of your handbag being able to keep up with the demands! Even though they are tiny, they’re still probably 10 times the price of Luxurytastic’s Fake Designer bags! I know there I would rather spend my money.

Fendi Spring 2015 RTW Collection at Milan Fashion WeekNext Fendi took the cutout trend to a whole new level, with several pieces featuring cut and shredded out sections. It’s like the new way to flash your midriff – something I’m sure starlets will EAT UP in a fury. It seems new, this paper shredded look…and I confess, I like it way more in theory than I do on paper. And somehow, while literally wearing shredded materials, the collection doesn’t come off with any punk of bad-girl vibes at all. No, for Fendi’s urban princess these things just fit right in.

Another range of looks was quite flapper appropriate; as in, literal garments composed of flaps!

I really loved these looks. They have interesting shape and movement to them. I also like that we keep a cool and toned down palette for the collection. It’s like smooth criminal! And can we talk about the footwear? The Spring runways have been packed with sporty sandals, but these especially sassy and strappy! (No rhyme intended. #lie)

The closing looks were feathered concoctions that are sure to be more big hits with the young Hollywood starlets of the day. I already seeing these being on the red carpet for photo premieres.

After a couple downer of collections from Gucci and Prada, Fendi’s Spring 2015 Collection seems like a well needed celebration of just what spring/summer is all about! Stripping things down, while keeping a clear, concise vision. There are no drowning wool overcoats or autumnal shades of orange. Everything about this collection screams modern springtime!

Don’t forget to bookmark the Fashion Week Directory for one-stop shopping of the Spring 2015 Collections! And on that note: Happy Friday! Wishing everyone an awesome weekend.
