Stop the presses: Valentino did NOT look like an episode of Big Love this season! OH…and Ben Stiller/Owen Wilson walked the runway in the ultimate Zoolander comeback moment. Suffice to say, things went on the Valentino’s runway at Paris Fashion Week.
Runway Report: Nina Ricci Moves Forward for Fall 2015
With former creative director Peter Copping now settled at Oscar de la Renta, Nina Ricci has been in a bit of a transition period of late. Although…you might never have known as Guillaume Henry, formerly of Carven, seemlessly swept in and took the reigns as new creative director with ease. At Paris Fashion Week, Henry unveiled Nina Ricci’s Fall 2015 Collection, his first at the house – and the results were divine!
Honoring that cool, sophistication of the house, Henry crafted that signature poise we know and love from Nina Ricci – with sparkling details as a nice added touch. After all, a little glitz never hurt anyone!
John Galliano Returns to Paris Fashion Week at Margiela
It goes without saying, that some collections have historical value. And so, the fashion world turned its eyes to the Maison Margiela runway at Paris Fashion Week with intrigue extending far beyond the clothes at hand. It was John Galliano’s debut ready-to-wear collection for the house after taking reigns as Creative Director, and given his rich and tormented heritage in the elite fashion community – it was a definite moment.
Trend Alert: Interstellar on the Fall 2015 Runways
I don’t know about you, but I’m STILL confused by the movie Interstellar. It’s easily the most spellbinding movie I’ve seen in a long time – and if you haven’t seen it yet, I encourage you to do so. Trust me, it will blow your mind, haunt you…and confuse you to no end. I left the theater feeling amazed and totally perplexed at the same time. It was a real trip. One I’m unsure I’ll ever understand, but totally worth it at the same time.
And SO, with Interstellar being one of life’s greatest mysteries for me in the last few months, I was excited to see space find its way onto the runway, again. Yes, Rodarte and Preen brought ACTUAL Star Wars to their Spring 2015 collections, showing graphic prints of Darth Vadar as evening wear. For real. (No, seriously for real!) Fortunately we’re taking a much less literal approach to the galaxy, though, for Fall 2015.
MFW: Dolce and Gabbana Celebrates Mamma for Fall 2015
It’s become tradition at Dream in Lace to take a moment or two for celebrating Dolce and Gabbana‘s latest showing at Milan Fashion Week. And so, while I find them to be in a bit of a rut…I concede that is a very pretty rut and worth mentioning!
Also worth mentioning…I got my WISH! After their headpieces for Spring 2015 (here), I was hoping Domenico Dolce and Steffano Gabbana would go hi-tech and release some seriously decadent headphones for fall/winter…and they did!! #Winning
Trend Alert: Metallic on the Fall 2015 Runways
The Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear runways have shown a significant amount of 70’s boho chic, but it’s another a trend that REALLY caught my eye: metallic. After all, who doesn’t love a little sparkle and shine in their life? Metallic made its first appearance at Misha NoNoo, when the usually minimal aesthetic was injected with metallic blazers and turtlenecks at New York Fashion Week. Then metallic found its way to London for Temperley London and more lately, Blumarine‘s disco ready runway at Milan Fashion Week.
We’re just about two-thirds of our way through Fashion Month and metallic shows NO sign of slowing down. And with Paris Fashion Week yet to come, it’s exciting to think of possibilities from houses like Saint Laurent or Alexander McQueen. Heck, perhaps Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel will add some metallic to the pot! (Come on Karl, do it!) Suffice to say, I’m kind of excited by the prospects for my coming fall wardrobe.
