I don’t know about you, but I’m STILL confused by the movie Interstellar. It’s easily the most spellbinding movie I’ve seen in a long time – and if you haven’t seen it yet, I encourage you to do so. Trust me, it will blow your mind, haunt you…and confuse you to no end. I left the theater feeling amazed and totally perplexed at the same time. It was a real trip. One I’m unsure I’ll ever understand, but totally worth it at the same time.
And SO, with Interstellar being one of life’s greatest mysteries for me in the last few months, I was excited to see space find its way onto the runway, again. Yes, Rodarte and Preen brought ACTUAL Star Wars to their Spring 2015 collections, showing graphic prints of Darth Vadar as evening wear. For real. (No, seriously for real!) Fortunately we’re taking a much less literal approach to the galaxy, though, for Fall 2015.
Let’s break this down:
Marc Jacobs took to the plate first when he retired his militant Spring look in favor of stargazing. Marc closed the New York Fashion Week with moody, stardust walking the runway. Soon after that, Peter Dundas took his final bow at Emilio Pucci – making it an intergalactic one. His final collection for the house cut into his 70’s aesthetic with galaxy-inspired boots, jackets and miniskirts.
Then, the always sexed-up Anthony Vaccarello opened Paris Fashion Week Tuesday, unveiling a collection ablaze with stars…be it as embellishments, design or cutouts.
If I’m being honest, I have a thing for stars. Hence, it’s not too surprising that I’m itching for this ‘spark’ of a trend, to spread into full-on wildfire! Dreamers, I want it all! I want jewelry, prints, cutouts, tattoos and more. If there’s a place for it, let’s put a star on it! Or, at the very least, let’s sparkle it up a bit.

I’m very pleased to see stars poised to be an upcoming trend for Fall. As we discussed already (here), metallic is having a bit of a moment on the runway as well – making me think the intergalactic fantasy wardrobe of my dreams might just be a few months away. *paging Princess Leia*
