Greetings, makeup lovers! Selena Gomez and crew over at Rare Beauty are kicking off the New Year in grand fashion with the launch of their Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Sticks.
And considering their Perfect Strokes mascara made its way onto DreaminLace‘s list of “Best 2021 Makeup Releases” there was no stopping me from snatching one of these up the very moment they landed on Sephora.
Rare Beauty Cream Bronzer Sticks
The new Rare Beauty cream bronzer sticks make for an exciting addition to one of the most talked about makeup lines of the moment and the first bronzing product to date for the full vegan brand.
We’ve seen bronzing sticks really on the rise over the last years and with good reason! They’re a great product to have on hand, making it easy to contour your face’s natural curves. They also give you a lot more control when applying product over a powder bronzer. So while the Warm Wishes sticks from Rare Beauty might not be totally unique, they are bringing a lot to the table.
There are currently five shades available:
- POWDER BOPOST: True Tan with neutral undertones
- HAPPY SOL: Light brown with cool undertones (photographed in this post)
- ALWAYS SUNNY: Rich caramel with neutral undertones
- FULL OF LIFE: Deep bronze with golden undertones
- TRUE WARMTH: Deep amber with red undertones
I picked up Happy Sol and have been happily testing it out over the last couple weeks! Get the full scoop on how we’re getting along below — with swatches and my first beauty product grade of the year!
Liquid-Like Consistency
We can all agree cream bronzers aren’t anything new but that didn’t stop the Rare Beauty team from putting their own spin on things! The Warm Wishes bronzing sticks feature an innovative liquid-like cream consistency that applies to the skin almost like you’re applying a liquid concealer — except – surprise? We’re still in stick form.
Insanely Smooth Application
I was immediately impressed with how quickly the bronzing stick applied. It glides over the skin like an Olympic figure skater on ice and blends out just as easily. Wow!
How’s the Pigmentation?
The Rare Beauty cream bronzer definitely comes with great amount of pigmentation — which honestly made me a little nervous at first. I was worried this would come off looking heavy and unnatural on the skin but everything blends out so evenly that wasn’t an issue.
Lightweight and Long-Wearing
The silky liquid-like formula potentially makes the Rare Beauty cream bronzer sticks one of my favorite cream products, ever. The product is so light on the skin with no heaviness or awkward settling into pores. I’m also glad to say everything stays put throughout the day.
How Does It Hold Up Atop Liquid Foundation?
One thing that always lives in the back of my mind when trying new cream products is just how well they’ll work over my healthy collection of liquid foundation.
Putting my detective cap on, I tested the bronzing stick out over several different foundations (NARS, Valentino, Maybelline, MAC, Lancome) as well as tinted moisturizers (Wet n Wild and Huda Beauty). Across the board I didn’t run into any issues with the bronzer picking up foundation or changes in wear-time.

Rare Beauty Cream Bronzer Stick Rundown
The Pros
- Unique liquid-like consistency
- Super light and natural appearance on the skin
- Easy, silky smooth application
- Blends out evenly
- Long-wearing
- Works beautifully atop other liquid products
- Vegan and cruelty-free
- Modestly priced at $23
The Cons
- Limited shade range.
The Final Grade: A-
Honestly I think I have found a new staple! I’m obsessed with how smoothly and quickly the Rare Beauty cream bronzer applies to the skin. It glides on and blends out so easily — which is definitely much appreciated in my morning makeup routine.
The biggest downside is that there is a limited shade range with only 5 options at the moment. I’m hoping this is just for the initial launch and the range will be expanded. Even adding two or three more color options would go along way to better match more skintones.
