Meet the Ole Henriksen Dark Spot toner that revolutionized my ENTIRE skincare routine after just one use. That’s right, this toner is a game-changer.

To start off, I want to immediately say I was first gifted the Ole Henriksen Dark Spot toner ahead of its launch in December 2018.
When it landed at my mailbox I thought it would be refreshing on the skin but had no expectation of falling head over heels for it. But upon first use, I was racing to post about it on my Instagram because I immediately knew it was a game-changer.
Just what was it about the Ole Henriksen Dark Spot toner that had me basically losing my marbles?
The way it felt
Massaging the toner into my skin with a cotton pad, I felt its AHAs immediately going to work on my skin in ways I’d never experienced from a toner. Like a sucker, I’d spent years and countless dollars purchasing toners because my gut told me it was the “right” thing to do for caring for my skin but as it turns out I just had not found the right toner for me.
OLE HENRIKSEN Dark Spot TONER
Right, so I frickin’ love the idea of the Ole Henriksen Dark Spot toner shooting to ‘atone’ for your skincare sins. As someone who works in marketing, I love that play on words. And who doesn’t love a good play on words?
While I’m proud to say I take pretty darn good care of my skin these days, I certainly can’t say that was always the case. In fact, and I cringe at admitting this, but I used to have a tanning bed membership. Why I thought laying in basically a microwave for 15 minutes at a time was a good plan I’ll never know – but younger me was a straight up fool. (Trust me, she was!)
A Proper Dose of AHAs
Baking myself in light bulbs is definitely the biggest skincare sin I’ve made in my day. Then there are the standard remnants of sun burns in my early age and a lack of commitment to sunscreen in general. Nowadays, I’ve embraced my status as an albino and avoid the sun as much as I can. I also feel lucky to have the Ole Henriksen toner on hand to help rectify the situation with a healthy daily dose of AHAs (through glycolic and lactic acid).
If you’re asking yourself just what “AHAs” are and why you need them, here’s a quick rundown of some things they do.
Benefits of AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids)
- Dissolve away your dead skin layer, leaving behind fresh new skin cells on the surface. A great and gentle way to exfoliate.
- Hold moisture in your skin
- Thicken your outer layer of skin while increasing collagen production for a firmer/plumper complexion
- Help repair photo-damaged skin and protect from UV damage (i.e. DARK SPOTS)
If you find yourself hunting around trying to develop a great anti-aging skincare routine, regular nighttime use of AHAs is bound to come at the top of the list of most widely-recommended things to do. Usually, though, you see those come in down the line through serums and moisturizers. It’s pretty awesome to discover that Ole Henriksen gets straight to the point by delivering them as the first step on freshly cleansed skin.
Immediate Results
After just one use the Ole Henriksen Dark Spot toner, I woke up in the morning with my skin feeling smoother than ever before. It was such an alarming and thrilling difference, I immediately told my mom about it. We’ve both been researching more and more about skincare and I just had to share my new (and at that time unreleased) discovery.
Clearly using AHAs as the first step after cleansing was a game-changing move because I can’t stress enough the dramatic difference I felt so quickly. It was almost like I emerged with a whole new face…and I’m not even joking when I say that.
Results After One Week
After one week of using Ole Henriksen’s GLOW2OH toner in my nighttime skincare routine, I could tell this new “smooth” complexion was here to stay. Usually I’ll use a product that delivers an initial smoothness that will completely where off within a few hours. But this lingered.
Makeup started applying better, my skin looked more awake and I battled no issues with dryness.
And Now Years Later
Three weeks later I knew I’d landed on a new staple in my skincare routine and now years and many bottles later, I concur.
I continue to use the Ole Henriksen Dark Spot toner every night after cleansing and it creates the perfect appetizer before the serum and moisturizer I layer on top. The AHAs have been incredibly affective at atoning for the skincare mistakes of my past, while also working preventatively to avoid any new dark spots.
