As I prepare to hit the Big Apple, let’s chat about NYFW planning and packing. Fashion central, here I come!
Get ready, because things are about to get A LOT more exciting around here! Praise the news that New York Fashion Week is upon us once again and I’ve been busily putting together a jam-packed schedule to share all the deets with you here on Dream in Lace!
Today is a travel day for me and I thought while I’m making my way to fashion week, I can share just a bit of what I have planned and give you a little bit of a glimpse into my packing routine. One things for sure, NYFW is coming at just right time and I’ve been basically bursting with excitement for it to finally kick-off!
NYFW Planning and Packing, Tips?
When it comes to my NYFW planning and packing, I’ve been trying to think ahead as best as I can and plan to wear things that are pretty effortless, yet cool.
To help manage my time in the city, I’ve installed a few key apps onto my phone:
MapMyPlaces: I’ve plotted all the shows that I’m attending as well vegan places I want to visit (I am SO excited about the vegan options in NYC) and general touristy things I may want to do.
Fashion GPS Radar: A lot of shows are using this app – not all, but enough to make it worth an installation to manage different invites, addresses, etc.
NYC Subway: Woah nelly, I’ve decided I’m going to brave the subway! At first this idea made me nervous, but after familiarizing myself with the lines and installing the subway app on my phone – I feel like it’ll all work out. After all, I’m a “strong independent woman”, right? Surely I can figure out a subway.
Because I’m all About that Lipstick!
Oh yes, I have a dozen outfits planned but I’m also going to be focusing my “look” quite a bit about lipstick. It’s functional, easy to apply throughout the day and can pretty easily be swapped to a different color for a whole new aesthetic.
The Urban Decay Vice lipsticks will be in heavy rotation by me – all week. Seriously, I’ve yet to try one I didn’t instantly fall in love with. The latest addition to my collection is this rockin’ purple called “Jawbreaker”. Totally excited to bust this out for a more dramatic look, possibly for The Blonds show on Sunday night. (Which, I’m totally planning to wear a tiara too, btw. Yes. A tiara!)
I also wanted a faux-leather handbag that has a lot of space to it, for carrying my schedule/chargers/etc. around the city. After a bit of digging, I found a gorgeous gray tote from New York and Company. It has lots of room for storage as well as a cross-body strap tucked away inside, which will be highly appreciated as I move around!
For my skincare routine, Clinique sent me their new “Pep-Start” collection not too long ago and New York Fashion Week seems like the absolute perfect place to give it a try! It came with wipes, a cleanser, a daily moisturizer and an eye cream. NYFW will be pretty fast-moving and I look forward to really giving these products a run for their money!
For my makeup, beyond lipstick of course, I’m keeping things pretty basic. I decided on my favorite Marc Jacobs foundation as my go-to for the week. It’s such a knock-out at holding up on a long days and with the grime of the city and running around, I don’t think I’d trust my face to anyone else right now. I’m bringing along Too Faced’s Better than Sex mascara as well to give me those fluttery lashes we all know and love.
Lorac has my eyes covered with a trio of must-haves. Number 1, their eyeshadow primer that really LOCKS everything in place (a must)! Second, the Lorac eyeshadow palette because virtually no palette is as complete and perfect for travel. Thirdly, the Lorac Pro liquid eyeliner – which I reviewed on Monday and is a true gem! (Read that review, here).
The best thing about attending NYFW? All the exciting content I’ll be able to deliver to you guys! I’ll be on high-alert the whole week delivering not just new posts here on Dream in Lace, but loads of coverage on my Twitter – Instagram – Snapchat (dreaminlace) as well.
Speaking of Insta/Snap – let me know if you have a preference on ‘stories’. I tried putting that to a vote on my Twitter over the weekend and results were evenly split. Do you prefer sticking to just one, Instagram or Snapchat? Or, do you like a mixture of both? Let me know!
For sure – it’s going to be one terrific week! I’m practically bursting with excitement for tomorrow’s 9 am Nicholas K show to begin to officially kick-off the festivities. Fashion week is upon us – and it’s going to be GRAND!
