To start of the new year and decade right, I’m sharing my 2020 resolutions!
Hello there, dreamers, and welcome to a new year and decade! I confess, initially I thought I would go ahead and skip the New Year’s resolutions tradition this go around. But on New Year’s Day, I took myself for a long walk in the beautiful sunshine and got thinking about 2020 resolutions that will help me grow just a little bit more this year.
Yes, the whole “new year, new me” concept is overdone and a bit overkill. It also mounts a lot of pressure on ourselves and feelings of inadequacy. What if who we were at the end of 2019 was already pretty great? Does that mean you have to entirely reinvent yourself in the new year? Hopefully not!
Then again, the idea of self-improvement isn’t entirely bad. And so that’s where today’s post comes in!
My 2020 Resolutions
Keeping things basic, I came up with three simple 2020 resolutions ! My hope is that these three resolutions will encourage me to continuing growing as a person and improve my overall wellbeing. As we all are, I’m a constant work in process. While I can’t predict exactly how 2020 will go, I’m confident I’ll close out the year being a little bit better than I am now and that’s just a sign of life and healthy progression.
So down below, enjoy my little reflection on 2020 resolutions to make this year even better than the last.
My Three 2020 Resolutions
1. Move More
Be it at the gym, getting out and about more in my hometown or traveling to new places, I hope to move even MORE than I did in 2019. Spend less time lounging at home and more time being social. Get back to those favorite exercise classes I didn’t make it to at the end of the year because I was leaving work too late. Find new jaunts for the weekend!
2. Cook More
For whatever reason, I seemed to fall off of cooking in 2019 — particularly the later half. It was kind of an odd thing too since I’ve always had a love of cooking before. So to rediscover this beloved hobby of mine, I’m adding cooking to my 2020 resolutions. Less trips to the salad bar. Less dinners of hummus and pita chips because I’m not “in the mood” to cook. Rediscover old favorite recipes and scout out new ones to enjoy as well!
3. Read More
Oh goodness, it’s embarrassing how many books I started in 2019 that I did not finish. For whatever reason, I could not silence my thoughts enough to focus and thoroughly read a book. And guess what? I really miss reading! I miss getting lost in the pages of book and enjoying a nice mental break from reality. Reading is so enjoyable when you get in the rhythm of it and I’m determined to read more books in the new year. To not overwhelm myself, I’m setting the goal of 17 books — but I hope to read more than that!
