Breaking down 11 of the best NYFW looks from the Fall/Winter 2019 runways in New York. From day wear to evening wear, which one’s your favorite?
Hello again, from Florida! If you caught this post – you’re probably aware that I think New York Fashion Week has been struggling for the last few years. As such, I decided to skip the NYFW circuit this season altogether in favor of a visit with my beloved Grandma in beautiful Naples, Florida.
To be entirely honest, when I booked my trip south I was little nervous I’d catch a case of FOMO when fashion week came to fruition and I was sitting beach side instead of at a runway show. In the end, though? Nope! Not at all. I’ve had a wonderful time escaping the cold and enjoying the collections from afar.
Turns out, when you’re fighting to keep pace and racing between shows at New York Fashion Week itself…you do kind of miss a lot of the fun of visually devouring the collections for next season.
Best NYFW Looks Off the Fall 2019 Runways
Yes, yes. While I skipped the shows in person, I didn’t want to let fashion week pass us by without mention of my favorites here on Dream in Lace. So I’ve curated a list of my picks for the best NYFW looks off the Fall 2019 runways. You’ll find fresh daytime looks as well as luxurious evening wear. There are also some great overcoats thrown in for good measure. (Outerwear is always a highlight of the fall/winter collections after all.)
Given how I’ve moved away from “round-up” style posts in favor of more in depth collection reviews, I actually kind of like this change of pace and more relaxed approach to covering fashion week. So much so, that I’m setting a goal to continue on as Fashion Month takes us to London, Milan and finally Paris in the weeks ahead. So stay tuned for more “Best of X Fashion Week” posts to come your way.
For now though, let’s get back to the pressing topic at hand: the BEST NYFW looks! Are you ready for a sartorial feast of sorts? Below you’ll find my favorites from the Fall 2019 runways in the Big Apple. Be sure to let me know which look is your #1.
Adeam Fall 2019 Collection
One of my favorite style tricks in winter months is to layer summery pieces of turtlenecks. Apparently Adeam agrees and this strappy sundress is spot-on perfect for every season.
Carolina Herrera Fall 2019 Collection
How SMART is this outfit? Seriously. That overcoat alone is enough to make it onto my “Best” list but styled to a tee over that colorful skirt and mules? Flawless.
Brandon Maxwell Fall 2019 Collection
It’s honestly no surprise for Brandon Maxwell to make it on a list of the best NYFW looks of any season, but it WAS tricky narrowing it down to just one. In the end, I went with this fashion-forward approaching to suiting over a satin evening gown. This look is just oh too cool and makes me want a pair of high-waisted white trousers, pronto.
Ralph Lauren Fall 2019 Collection
Another frequent designer on any “Best NYFW Looks” list is no doubt going to be Ralph Lauren. He is an icon, after all. This season, he showed much earlier in the week and BOY did he set the pace for fantastic evening wear. There were several drop-dead gorgeous looks that I would kill to wear, but this chic black gown takes the cake for my ultimate fav. So timeless!
Self-Portrait Fall 2019 Collection
I’m so very much in love with this dress! Blue and orange are among my most favorite color combinations and I’m always down for a good ruffle. Look closely at the neckline, too. Do you spot the seahorse necklace? Sold!
Sally LaPointe Fall 2019 Collection
Who doesn’t love a little razzle dazzle now and then? Especially when it comes in oxblood.
Brock Collection Fall 2019 Collection
After Rodarte unveiled heart prints in LA, Brock Collection followed suit when they shipped this beauty down the runway at New York Fashion Week. And I have to say, heart prints is a trend I will TOTALLY buy into next season. Love!
Pamella Roland Fall 2019 Collection
A gown that looks impossibly intricate to make and impossibly fun to wear.
J.Mendel Fall 2019 Collection
J.Mendel is among those saying goodbye to the runway and hello to editorialized lookbooks for showcasing the latest collection. It’s a bit of a shame in this case, as I would love to see this dress in motion. But, even till, it’s quite the beauty! Kinda hoping some stylist will snatch this up for the Oscars red carpet or an after party. Vanity Fair?
Oscar de la Renta Fall 2019 Collection
It makes sense for Oscar de la Renta to also land on my list of Best NYFW Looks but I bet you thought I’d be going for a gown! Yes, the Fall 2019 ODLR collection had several gowns to lust after but it was this overcoat that MOST caught my eye. Essentially, it’s the patchwork coat of my dreams.
Alice + Olivia Fall 2019 Collection
Without question, Stacey Bendet knows how to bring the drama at Alice + Olivia. Except even with years of dramatic collections below her belt, this closing gown of the Fall 2019 collection somehow takes things to a whole new level. The headpiece, the cape and the gown all work together in such a perfectly “extra” way that I’m begging someone to wear this to the MET Gala. (In which case, I’m happy to volunteer as tribute.)
