New mascara alert?! Meet the new Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara! This new release promises LOTS of volume and a 24-hour wear time. Does it deliver?
Maybe you were more of an Aidan girl (I was) – but Sex and the City fans can rejoice because Mr. Big is making a triumphant return!
(In the form of mascara, that is.)
Our friends at Lancome certainly are no strangers to crafting dramatic lashes and this summer they launched a brand new mascara. Making none other than Mr. Big the namesake of their dazzling new product, the new mascara launch promises to deliver BIG volume! Think 12 times as much, to be exact.
Meet the Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my over-the-moon excitement when a box of Lancome goodies landed in my hands – including this new mascara. Of course I’m down for any new beauty launch, but there’s something about a new mascara that strikes my curiosity more than most.
The Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara came with promises of extreme volume and a 24 hour wear time, making me very eager to put it to the test. Like the scientific pro that I am, I wore this new mascara day in and day out for nearly two weeks weighing my thoughts and today I’m ready to report my findings.
To start off, let’s give you a better glimpse at the packaging:
The Packaging
For the Monsieur Big mascara, Lancome kept the packaging black with hot pink accents. It’s a sleek tube and is definitely quite different than the packaging designs of their other mascara. The wand itself is has a more traditional shape to it, (much unlike their famous Hypnose Drama design) and has a fiber brush applicator – that’s quite reminiscent of the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara, I must say.
The Claims
When it comes to promises, Lancome Monsieur Big mascara makes A LOT of them. The mascara promises to deliver 12x your traditional volume and a 24-hour wear time with no flaking, smudging or need for touching up.
The Results
To best demonstrate for you the Lancome Monsieur Big mascara in action, I took the liberty of taking awkward photos of myself both before applying – immediately after applying – and 12 hours after applying. Excuse my awkwardness, but hopefully you can get a good look at the power of the mascara.
Volume for Days?
Lancome promised a lot of volume with this new mascara and I have to say, it does really extend the length and fullness of my lashes. Is it precisely 12 times as much? I’m not 100% sure about that but it definitely is a mascara that gives more oomph to your lashes. For me, that’s great – as I do prefer a mascara that delivers more length. Also, of note, I did ‘curl’ my lashes before applying the mascara.
Longevity?
While I didn’t wear the Lancome Monsieur Big mascara for a full 24 hours, I have regularly worn it for about 14-15 and am consistently happy with its wear time. The mascara does lose a bit of its “pop” factor as the day goes on, but generally holds the curl and extended length of your lashes quite well. If you want to layer up in the evening for a more oomph, it does build nicely without any funky clumping.
Any Smudging or Flaking?
Absolutely none! I think you can pretty clearly see around the 12 hour mark that the mascara didn’t leave any weird traces of residue on my lower lash line. Very nice, especially when you consider that the Monsieur Big mascara is not marketed as a water-proof mascara. If you’re prone to smudging your mascara, I definitely recommend you give this mascara a try!
Overall Thoughts?
