The Clinique Pep-Start skincare line promises to get you prepped, pepped and out the door in no time. How does this new range of skincare products deliver?

Some of you may recall a post I shared building up to New York Fashion Week (here) where I discussed my packing and organizational tips to manage such a chaotic trip. With me, I packed the Clinique Pep-Start skincare line and was ready to put these great new products to the test! Today, I’m back with a full review.
Clinique kindly sent these new skincare gems to me over the summer – and it is definitely high time I finally gave them a try. What’s particularly great about each of these products, is they are multi-taskers…designed to help you complete a full skincare routine in a fraction of the time. This is super helpful, as we’re all juggling busy schedules and every second we can cut back on our beauty routines is another second we can add to something else.
Clinique’s Pep-Start line includes a moisturizer, eye cream, cleanser and cleansing wipes that are perfect for the girl on-the-run who wants to preserve and maintain her good skin.
Clinique Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser
A die-hard Purity by Philosophy fan, I was excited to step outside of my comfort zone a bit to give this Pep-Start cleanser a try. The cleanser has exfoliating beads sprinkled throughout, that help you work overtime while you’re cleansing to also exfoliate the skin. Exfoliating is such an important step! In the morning, I love how this cleanser truly does wake up the skin – prepping it for makeup. In the evening, I’m in love with how effective this is at cutting through my foundation, bronzer and any grit and grime that may have accumulated through the day. I’ve now taken to using Purity when I’m working with my Clarisonic and this cleanser when working without it. So, it’s the perfect addition to my cleansing routine!
Clinique Pep-Start Quick Cleansing Wipes
These cleansing wipes must be magic, because I’ve been using these nonstop and still have SO many left. I like to perform a true “cleanse” of my skin afterward in the evenings, but use these makeup wipes to give myself a head-start at removing makeup. Wiping away heavy eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick and breaking down my foundation…these are a refreshing addition to my evening skincare routine. For those in a MAJOR rush, I have used these as a substitute for “cleansing” on busy mornings and they nicely perk up my skin before moisturizing and work nicely beneath makeup. At first, I was skeptical because the wipes are indeed on the “drier” side, but that in no way limits their ability to get the job done. $14 for facial wipes might seem a bit nutty, I’m honestly impressed.
Clinique Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer
As a true multi-tasker, the Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer works 24/7 to hydrate your skin, instantly blurs imperfections and helps prepare your skin for makeup. If you’re a primer girl, I dare say you can totally skip that step — which definitely saves you some time in the morning. I’m really finicky when it comes to moisturizer in the morning before makeup, living in fear that I’ll end up a gross greasy mess by the end of the day. The moisturizer’s thicker texture made me a bit hesitant, but my skin truly did zap it all up and its “mattifying” formula caused no issues with my foundation and makeup slipping around.
According to Clinique, the Pep-Start eye cream is great at de-puffing your eyes and includes peptides that guard against signs of stress and limited sleep. Yup, yup and yup. ALL things we need, right? I have started to truly look forward to using this eye cream in the morning! It’s cool tip is soothing and relaxing to use. Plus, the eye cream itself really does deliver when it comes to reviving your eye area after a sleepless night and helps keep you going when your schedule is keeping your eye area looking awake…all good things when you’re trying to ward off looking like an extra on The Walking Dead (even when you might feel like one).
One More Thought:
I know it’s totally superficial and not actually that important, but I totally LOVE the packaging of the Clinique Pep-Start skincare line. It’s cheerful and fun – a total mix up from the other skincare products that I’m used to seeing on the market. We all know Clinique’s classic Dramatically Different Moisturizer and toners, but I think they did a great job designing a new range that’s truly perfect for maintaining good skin, without having to jump through a thousand extra steps. I hear it works really well with Waxing and Skincare by Celeste because they both moisturize the skin fantastically well. My friend told me about her experience with the combo and could not be happier with the results.
Also of note, I think the Clinique Pep-Start skincare products are all reasonably priced. In a day where our average moisturizer rings up at $50 a pop, $29.50 for the HydroBlur product and $26.50 for the eye cream seems like a true steal. If you’re looking for quality skincare at a good price, definitely give these a try. The products are available at Sephora, so feel free to visit a store to give them a look before deciding!
