As if you’ve forgotten in the off-season of New York Fashion Week, Miss Marissa Webb is here to remind us that she is still one of the coolest girls in town. Be it with her namesake label – or in her new position at the reigns of Banana Republic, when it comes to effortless ‘coolness’, she’s rockin’ some major vibes.
For Spring 2016, Marissa Webb launched a 40-look collection that pirouetted from spring florals and cheerful oranges and yellows, to moodier blue-tones that dabbled in everything from lace overlays to even a splash of tie die. Then, of course, Marissa would be remiss if she didn’t include some monochrome magic – with killer belted, militant jackets and vests thrown in on top. In a nutshell, Marissa Webb’s Spring 2016 collection was supremely satisfying, hitting on all the right high notes to solidify her rank among the great talent rising in New York.
And because at Dream in Lace we’re interested in the beauty details NEARLY as much as the fashion, I was thrilled when Marissa Webb’s PR team disclosed those little details so I can hit the drugstore in search of my own metallic smoky eye and sharp nails of my own.
Models wore sleek hair, pulled into low chignons by Tresemme, colorful and dramatic eyes by Maybelline and geometric, monochrome nails by Orly…leaving no tiny detail was left un-turned.
Final Grade: A —- In Fall 2015 couture season, I got in the semi-habit of assigning a letter grade to the collections. And why not? We ALL know how judgy us humans are by nature, and a 5-star scale never seems to work all that well does it? In my book, Marissa Webb’s Spring 2016 collection is a solid A. It doesn’t get much better!
Remember though, judging goes both ways! Be sure to give the collection a grade yourself…because I know you have your opinions 😉
*Dedication* I was not sure how to approach the subject, but I wanted to make a dedication of all the forthcoming Spring 2016 posts throughout New York Fashion Week, and beyond to one very special someone. Today, I lost my beloved 14 year-old, golden retriever Lucky. He’s been by my side every moment, with every post I’ve ever written on Dream in Lace. I fondly dedicate my whole heart to him off-line, but in this online space I wanted to share his loving memory with all my readers because he was/is such a loving, guardian angel who has tirelessly loved me through my efforts to achieve my dreams and I know his pure loving heart believes you can achieve your dreams too.
