When it comes to cool-girls, Marissa Webb is the master at styling them to a T. There’s a signature air of sass and attitude to her clothes, and yet they’re also entirely inviting. For Spring 2015, Marissa Webb spins a tale of deconstructed shirt-dresses, leather leggings, army jackets, smokey eyes and messy side braids. It’s a new generation of cool girl, with cool tones – which offset last spring’s vivid reds. (See here.)
One things for sure, the Marissa Webb wearing girl is somehow cooler than the rest. In the past, her career involved the footprint of preppy classics at J.Crew. Now, the modern day Marissa Webb collection spins the classics into something altogether new. Reinventing the wheel – also, to a T.
Can we take just a moment to obsess over the footwear?

Okay, now. Wasn’t the unexpected pop of orange at the end of the collection and unexpected twist? It was such a nice evolution from crisp whites, to cool blues and militant greens – with a finale of bright orange. Definitely a surprising end to a rather cool and neutral color palette.
I love the many variations we see of the shirt dress, a mainstream trend and frequent star of the runways. But in true Marissa Webb spirit, the shirt dress takes on many life forms…all the way down to the interesting (and super cute) over-shirts. Talk about a super easy way to take a typical outfit and transform it into something innovative.
In recent history, Marissa Webb was unveiled as the new Creative Director at Banana Republic – and I am extremely excited about this venture! It’s going to be fun to see the direction she takes Banana Republic, in spicing up their beautiful classics. If anyone knows how to reinvent a classic, it is Ms. Webb.
