Welp. Well, Labor Day is in the rear view mirror…guess it’s time to head full-steam into fall? And, really, what better way to “ring” in a new season than by updating your nail polish? Essie’s ‘In the Lobby’ nail polish captured my attention most from their Fall 2015 collection. After all, nothing says ‘fall’ quite like a rich burgundy.
When it comes to rich burgundy and oxblood nail polish, my collection has a long line of duds. For whatever reason, these shades always fail to give me the color payoff I’m most looking for and are relegated to the very bottom of my collection. So, I had HIGH hopes for Essie’s In the Lobby to really deliver the goods. Essie hasn’t always been a favorite of mine, but lately – their polish formula has really impressed me.
I wiped off my Essie peach shade and buckled down to embrace In the Lobby. On the first nail, I immediately was blown away by how much more ‘watery’ this shade is than Essie’s typical formula. Nail polish went basically everywhere, giving me a lot less control than I’m used to. I found myself wiping the brush of two, three or even four times to avoid the polish from running off onto my hand.
Color payoff wise, Essie’s In the Lobby was very impressive. It definitely is a two – possibly even one – coat polish, which was a great improvement to the duds I previously mentioned. It also showed no signs of pesky ‘streakiness’. And comparatively speaking, the polish does hold up to my other Essie polishes. I don’t know why, but they used to chip easily on me- but now I can get a good 6-7 days.
All in all, I’m pretty darn happy to FINALLY have an oxblood polish that’s decent – in fact, more than decent. If you haven’t yet swooned over Essie’s Fall 2015 collection, I suggest heading to your nearest drugstore, Target or Ulta to lust after the prettiness. There are a couple metallic shades that I think I’m also going to pick up. I wanted to wait till we got a little bit more into fall to bust those out though.
Thank you so much for reading, and please let me know what types of “Fall” posts you’d like to see coming up on Dream in Lace!
