For Spring 2016, Monique Lhuillier presented a collection at New York Fashion Week that might very well be her best yet. With colors, florals and shapes befitting greats like Oscar de la Renta and Giambattista Valli – it was a demure and cheerful collection that has me already longing for the days of spring.
Monique Lhuillier’s Spring/Summer 2016 Collection was inspired by the bold colors and contemporary art of Ellsworth Kelly. It was a balancing act of statement colors, texture and sculptured lines that showcases the femininity and sophisticated edge of the modern, Monique Lhuillier woman.
I honestly fell in love with the collection from the very first look, a vibrant green shift dress with floral embellishments at the neck. To match the colorful pieces, models wore colorful eye makeup – anchored with neutral lips and slicked back hair.
Monique Lhuillier is a true rising star in fashion, meaning the Hollywood starlets came alone. Sitting front row was Bella Thorne, Jamie Chung, Ashley Madekwe (who is a bit of a fashion blogger herself), Gillian Jacobs of Community and more.
If I were to give a ‘street style’ award, it would absolutely be to Skyler Samuels who wore a stunning floral Lhuillier party dress for the occasion.
It was definitely a breakout moment for Lhuillier, featuring day and evening wear that’s sure to make its way around the red carpets and press junket appearances for actresses everywhere. The Spring/Summer 2016 was so cheerful and bright, that I’m starting to cringe at the thought that we’re now past Labor Day and heading full speed into the subzero temperatures of winter. *cringing big time*
A big thank you to the HL Group for providing me with details and gorgeous photos, credited to Greg Kessler and Neil Rasmus.
For a grade, I’m giving the Monique Lhuillier Spring/Summer 2016 collection a smashing A+. Let me know what marks you give this collection in the comments. Of course, thank you so much for reading and keep checking backing to Dream in Lace for more and more (and more) NYFW coverage!!
