The Covergirl Clean Fresh foundation is cruelty-free, vegan and promises to deliver a long-lasting dewy finish. Does it live up to its claims? Let’s find out!
Hello there, beautiful! I hope you and your loved ones are all staying well. Given how much fun we’ve had trying out new foundations lately here on Dream in Lace – I thought it was high time I brought Covergirl into the mix.
Covergirl Clean Fresh Foundation
While on a recent shopping trip to the grocery, the new Covergirl Clean Fresh foundation caught my eye!
I admit, CG’s foundations haven’t done much for me in the past but the Covergirl Clean Fresh foundation appealed to me with its certified vegan and cruelty-free status. Of course, there’s no arguing that the price is pretty gosh darn great as well.
If you caught my review of the Maybelline Dream and Loreal’s Fresh Wear foundations, you’ll know I’ve had quite a bit of success with recent launches at the drugstore. Formulated with coconut milk, the Covergirl Clean Fresh foundation offers something new while promising moisturize the skin and blur imperfections.
Does it measure up? For a full review – keep reading, below!

Shade Selection: 14 Colors
Looking at the shade range for the Covergirl Clean Fresh foundation, it’s definitely a bit limited. Fortunately I was able to find a color that suited my complexion, but I think many women out there will have difficulty finding an exact match. Many of the shades have a warm undertone with them, so if you’re looking for a cool foundation that’s something else to be aware of.
Lightweight Whipped Formula
The foundation has a very nice lightweight, whipped consistency to it that’s almost like a tinted moisturizer.
Somewhat Streaky Application
Given how lightweight the formula is, I was kind of surprised to see how streaky the Clean Fresh foundation is when applying. It definitely does blend in and settle nicely in the end, but requires more work than usual to get there.
Light-to-Medium Coverage
The Clean Fresh foundation has a light-to medium coverage that is buildable in certain problem areas. Your real skin will definitely shine through, though, which is a positive for those looking for a natural finish. If you’re seeking more full coverage, this is not the one for you.
Dewy, Radiant Finish
I’m always a touch nervous with “dewy” foundations as I worry dewy will equate to greasy — but I was happy to see that’s definitely not the case with the Clean Fresh foundation. The product sets in a way that gives a boost of radiance to your complexion that’s quite lovely.
Moderate Weartime
If you’ve been following my foundation reviews, you’ll know that I most prefer a bullet-proof product that last all day with minimal (as in no) touchups. Yes, I realize that is a tall task!
In the end, the Clean Fresh foundation gave me a solid 6-7 hours of wear time before it started to break down. That’s decent, but it’s not a product I’d define as “long-wearing”. However, wearing a good foundation primer really can help out! (Currently, I’m loving this one from Elf Cosmetics and this one from OleHenriksen.)

Overall Grade: B
Overall, I think the Covergirl Clean Fresh foundation is a nice product. Is it a holy grail, superstar? No. But, it does have quite a nice finish to it and is a good option for those who are looking for a vegan foundation that’s affordable and gives a boost to your complexion.
If you’re looking for a more full coverage option from the drugstore, I do highly suggest the Maybelline’s full-coverage Dream Urban Cover.
