From Dua Lipa sizzling in Mugler to Taylor Swift in perfectly tailored custom Schiaparelli – let’s discuss the 2024 Grammys fashion looks.
CONFESSION: I didn’t watch the Grammys.
Year-after-year the record academy seems increasingly out-of-touch with actual musical merit while toeing the lines of celebrity PR. Nonetheless, it was the first major red carpet since haute couture week wrapped in Paris and I was curious to see what music’s biggest stars would wear while stepping out of the night.
Perusing the red carpet fashions I definitely felt no pang of regret for skipping the awards show in favor of curling up with Bram Stoker’s Dracula and a piping hot mug of peppermint tea. The pool of red carpet looks seemed rather slim compared to years prior and there was a definite lack of fresh-off-the-runway couture designs.
Nonetheless, the spectrum of styles worn by music’s stars was intriguing enough that I wanted to review the 2024 Grammys fashion looks with you here.
Taylor Swift unsurprisingly took home the top “Album of the Year” prize for Midnights (to Jay Z’s disapproval) in a custom haute couture from Daniel Roseberry’s Schiaparelli. She styled the look with “Am I the drama?” black gloves, six sparkling necklaces and a signature red lip.
On the opposite end of the sartorial spectrum was the always unconventional Billie Eilish.
Continuing her ongoing award season run for “Best Song” from a major motion picture, Billie partnered with Chrome Hearts for a varsity Barbie look that included a bomber jacket worn over a collared white shirt with a black tie.
2024 Grammys Fashion Looks
Dua Lipa in Courreges
Dua Lipa has partnered with Versace for multiple Grammy looks through the years but she went in a different direction for her appearance on the 2024 Grammys red carpet. This go around, she opted for a long-sleeved metallic Courréges gown and Tiffany & Co. jewels.
Dua Lipa in Mugler
Opening the Grammys with a live performance of her new single Dance the Night, Dua Lipa continued her partnership with Mugler on stage in a strappy, leather bodysuit from Casey Cadwallader’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection.
Kylie Minogue in Dolce and Gabbana
Disco Queen Kylie Minogue graced the red carpet in a custom red Dolce and Gabbana look that was perfectly tailored.
Taylor Swift in Custom Schiaparell
Without a doubt, Taylor Swift is a mainstay on the Grammys red carpet as she releases albums at a speed no one can rival — and that is sure to continue as she announced a new album to be released in April 2024!
This year she broke history with her fourth “Album of the Year” win (much to Jay Z’s disapproval) dressed in custom haute couture Schiaparelli.
Olivia Rodrigo in Vintage Versace
Reviewing red carpet looks from the 2024 Grammys, I realized how much Olivia Rodrigo resembles the beautiful Eiza Gonzalez. Celebrity doppleganger aside, Gen Z’s pop-punk starlet dug into the Versace archives with a look that’s both fun and flirty.
Billie Eilish in Chrome Hearts
Billie Eilish has had quite the award season run chasing trophies for her addition to the Barbie soundtrack and for the Grammys — she partnered with Chrome Hearts for a custom varsity look.
Kelly Clarkson in Jason Wu
Is this a new personal best for Ms. Clarkson? Feels like it.
Boy Genius in Thom Browne
Thom Browne has showed his appreciation for Phoebe Bridgers for a while now and that appreciation now extends to Boy Genius. Great tailoring aside, the uniform looks aren’t altogether memorable.
Miley Cyrus in custom Maison Margiela
It was a big night for Miley Cyrus as she (finally) became a Grammy winner and she did so in slinky Maison Margiela — arguably leading the pack in the sexiest 2024 Grammys fashion looks. Liam Hemsworth? Eat your heart out.
Miley Cyrus in Vintage Bob Mackie
For a performance of her smash hit Flowers — Miley Cyrus stepped back in time in 2002 vintage Bob Mackie.
Dawn Richard in Khorsrov
Bless Dawn Richard for bringing some high-drama haute couture to the red carpet.
Ellie Goulding in Zuhair Murad
Not the best.
Doja Cat in Dilara Findijoglu
It’s fun the way Doja Cat likes to walk an uncharted path with her style choices and her 2024 Grammys look was no exception. Love the choice to wear black-frame glasses with the sexy, form-fitting nude gown.
Unsure about the choice of footwear.
Halle Berry in Jason Wu
2023’s Little Mermaid looked absolute perfection in custom Jason Wu.
Janelle Monae in Armani Prive
Hats off to Janelle Monae for always sticking to the same color palette but in a way that proves you can wear black and white in infinite ways. Armani Privé worked partnered with Monae on a gown that’s equal parts sleek and sexy.
Laverne Cox in Comme des Garcons
Friendly Reminder: Valentine’s Day is coming up!
Lana Del Ray in Vintage Gown
I wish we had a label for Lana Del Ray’s vintage coquettish look because it’s definitely one of my favorite 2024 Grammys fashion selections. Nonetheless, we may not know the designer behind her black midi dress but she looked absolutely gorgeous.
