Pat McGrath’s Mothership Sunlit Seduction palette arrived on the scene with a lot of skepticism from her most devout customers — present company included. Having multiple rose-toned palettes from Pat in my collection, I too felt it was one that I could give a pass as it did feel slightly duplicative. It wasn’t until I saw the eyeshadows swatched that my heart was falling in love at first sight and this beauty was on its way to my doorstep — and oh am I glad I changed my mind.
It has turned out to be such a wonderful addition to my makeup routine and is easily my most-used palette of the year.
The colors are extremely versatile for everyday use and their performance indicates that some improvements have been made to Pat McGrath’s formula since the original Divine Rose I and Divine Rose II versions arrived a few years back.

AFTER A CLOSER LOOK, LET’S TALK COLORS!
Pat McGrath and her team continue to know their way around creating a beautiful color story and while the rose-toned theme isn’t new, the Sunlit Seduction palette includes ten densely pigmented shadows that really provide a lot of power when applied to the lid.
The nice mix of warm browns are make for the perfect transitional shades as you work with the palette. But it’s the stunning gem-toned shadows on the right that make the Pat McGrath Sunlit Seduction palette such a standout for me. The garnet red “Blitz Crimson” is beautiful for a festive splash of color and “Astral Amethyst” satisfies my devout purple-loving heart.
PIGMENTATION AND APPLICATION
With any Pat McGrath eyeshadow palette, you can expect shadows that are richly pigmented and perform well.
Her super formula is one that helds up well in all weather conditions — from the frigid cold days of winter to the sweltering hot and humid days of summer — as well as under bright studio lights. This is likely why her products are in such high-demand everywhere from on the catwalk and photoshoots to Taylor Swift’s three-hour Eras tour.
What stands out about the Pat McGrath Sunlit Seduction specifically is how smoothly the matte shadow blend. It does feel like the formula has been tweaked. The mattes are even more buttery than her previous palettes with a very smooth finish — making the shadows great worn all over the lid or used when blending and building a more layered look.
HIGH PERFORMANCE
If you’re someone who really doesn’t like looking in the mirror at the end of the day only to see that all the hard work you put into creating a beautiful eyeshadow look has blinked away — Pat McGrath’s formula is the one for you! It would actually be so fascinating to visit her labs to learn the specifics behind the staying power of her shadows because the hold to the lid like glue and are so easy to work with when it comes to layering and blending.
If you’re living in a warm climate — these shadows will especially impress you. Counterparts melt away throughout the day but the high-performance PMG Labs formula withstands extreme heat, extreme humidity and even trips to the swimming pool.

PROS:

OVERALL GRADE: A
While I do understand the disappointment of devout Pat McGrath Labs shoppers that the “Sunlit Seduction” palette features colors she’s already delivered in multiple other palettes and quads — I can’t really find much fault with what she’s bringing to the table here.
The Pat McGrath Sunlit Seduction palette is one that I would recommend to collectors because of how beautiful the Crimson and purple tones are — but it’s an especially great option for anyone who is starting out with Pat’s makeup as the silkiness of the improved formula does blend more smoothly than previous versions.
“Huetopian Dream” remains my all-time favorite Mothership palette from Pat to date, anyway — but I’m mighty glad I got over my initial disappointment that these shades felt like ones we’ve seen before because the palette has been such a wonderful addition to my beauty routine and is one I think will impress anyone who brings it home.
