Goodness! Spring 2022 has been quite a hectic one hasn’t it?

Before I launch into my spring 2022 makeup favorites I wanted to confess that it’s been a very difficult season for me and one that’s no doubt affected my posting schedule here on DreaminLace.

After several months of terrible pain, I was scheduled to surgery at the start of March but in preparation for that learned I need a much bigger schedule. All the work and effort that went into planning that initial surgery blew up in my face and sent me running to McDonald’s for emergency French fries. And ultimately what was going to be just a couple weeks of recovery turned into the entirety of my spring season jumping from one doctor appointment or test to the next. Humana.com shamefully became my most-used website and throughout the last couple months I’ve been living in an intensifying state of chronic pain.

But — there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

It’s always my goal to look on the bright side and not be a Debbie Downer because we all know complainers are a turn off. Right now I’m counting down to a surgery date at the end of June where two very skilled surgeons will hopefully pick and fix me up like Humpty Dumpty. It will be my SIXTH back surgery with at least a 3-month recover and while I don’t feel like I’ve really been able to fully process what all that will entail yet — I have to say sitting down at my vanity every morning has been a bright spot of my day these last dark weeks.

Is it vanity. Is it immaturity?

I don’t know. But what I do know is that applying makeup in the morning has become play time for me where I push all problems aside and lose myself in applying a rainbow of colors to my eyelids, bronzing my cheeks and adding the perfect kiss of highlight.

So after that little life update — let’s just get on with my spring 2022 makeup favorites! It may not have been the best season for me personally and physically but by golly on a makeup front? It’s been a glorious one.

Spring 2022 Makeup Favorites

NARS Light Reflecting Foundation

I did rave at length about the NARS Light Reflecting foundation in a review here but it obviously has to be included among my spring 2022 makeup favorites! The stress and pain I’ve been dealing with lately I feel really has taken its toll on my skin and I love the way this foundation provides great coverage but is also LOADED with skincare ingredients to nourish my complexion during this turbulent time. In fact, the formula is 70% skincare and only 30% makeup — and believe me, I need it!

NARS Unrated Eyeshadow Palette

Yes, NARS has really been keeping me happy of late and now two years in a row — I am obsessed with their summer eyeshadow release. The 2021 palette was pretty but small comparatively but for Summer 2022 they are going all out with a 16-pan eyeshadow palette that looks like a summer sunset personified. I’m completely smitten with how easily these pigmented shadows blend out and if you’ve not yet tried NARS shadows, this could be the perfect time to test them out.

Rare Beauty Cream Bronzer Sticks

On the Selena Gomez x Rare Beauty front, it’s been hit or miss for me. Their new powder didn’t blow me away and their tinted moisturizer I felt didn’t live up to what others on the market are doing better. But when it comes to cream bronzing sticks? They’re leading the pack!

Whether you’re applying directly to the face and blending out with your fingers or going in with a buffing brush, the results are the same! Beautiful, seamless glow that lasts all frickin’ day long! I’m going to make an early prediction and say the Rare Beauty Cream Bronzing sticks are among the best releases of the entire year.

Chanel Nº1 Lip and Cheek Balm

I love a multifunctional product so much and all spring — the Chanel lip and cheek balm become as number one go-to and definitely one of my spring 2022 makeup favorites when I’m in a rush! On many occasions I actually wore this as both a blush and on the lips simultaneously. Its hydrating and nourishing formula was a great base to wear under matte lipsticks. On the cheeks? It gives off such a health flush of color that is glistening in all the right ways.

Loreal Infallible Concealer

Wow! Loreal isn’t playing around with their Infallible range in general but this is one seriously powerful concealer! The coverage is so FULL that you can easily go with just this concealer and skip foundation altogether if you like. The formula is also waterproof, making it great for days where you end up in a pool, hit the gym after work or maybe have a crying session. (Because that happens!)

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Rosy

Have you tried a blush from Neutrogena before? Yea, no. Me either — at least not till April rolled around and I found myself aimlessly wandering the eyes of Walgreens. In addition to being a great everyday basic, the blush is formulated with Vitamin C to even further help illuminate your complexion.

Pat McGrath Glow Highlight

While not at all new, I couldn’t not include this Pat McGrath highlight among my spring 2022 makeup favorites! I initially picked this up alongside some of her gorgeous blushes when they launched last year and honestly kind of forgot about it since. But when doing some organizing and “spring cleaning” of my vanity, I pulled this from my stash and came to really LOVE using this as a daily highlight all season long. It gives a beaming glow to the skin, but in a glistening not greasy kind of way.

Loreal Noir Balm Mascara

Another Loreal product on my list of spring 2022 makeup favorites? Yep! I took a long break from the brand but their new releases have really caught and managed to hold my attention this year. Loreal of course has a famous and very long line of mascara options to choose from but the Noir Balm is a new member of the family and worth your consideration. I like how this is such a clump-free formula and glides easily on lashes. It’s also very defining formula that brings height to your lashes.
