Well, fashionistas! It likely comes as little surprise that schedule changes at fashion week continue in the wake of the new variant.
But despite Armani Privé cancelling and absences from mainstays like Maison Margiela and Tony Ward, we can still rejoice that plans are moving forward for haute couture week in Paris.
The 4-day event features an array of digital presentations as well as in-person runway shows that will no doubt have street style photographers clamoring with excitement after this wasn’t in possible in January 2021. The Spring 2022 Couture Week schedule kicks off with Daniel Roseberry unveiling his latest for Schiaparelli on Monday, January 24th. From there things pick up speed with Christian Dior’s double header, Virginie Viard’s next chapter and the always artistic Viktor & Rolf.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
A variance of editorial style videos as well as a number of runway shows WITH guests.
WHERE TO TUNE IN:
One thing the pandemic has been excellent for is perfecting the art of making shows accessible to everyone. Digital presentations will land on brand Instagram profile’s and websites. Likewise, you can expect in-person events like Christian Dior and Maison Valentino to stream their runway shows for audiences to enjoy at home. When the time comes, hop over to the brand’s digital profiles to tune in!
Additionally, Vogue Runway will be routinely updated with still images from the latest collections.
KEY SHOWS TO LOOKOUT FOR
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER: With JPG enjoying retirement, we will see Y/P Project and Diesel designer Glenn Martins guest design a collection for one of the most iconic labels in haute couture.
FENDI: Kim Jones is settling in quite nicely at the reins of womenswear for the Italian luxury house. The forthcoming Spring 2022 couture collection will be his third since re-establishing Fendi as a couture house and definitely one to watch!
TOP PLAYERS FOR AWARD SEASON: While its possible award season will see additional delays, the haute couture runways will certainly be closely watched by celebrity stylists. Chanel will no doubt be dressing their beloved muse Kristen Stewart for her Best Actress run as Princess Diana in Spencer. Red carpet favorites are also slated to appear from Christian Dior, Maison Valentino and Schiaparelli.
