Breaking: November 2016 is nearing an end. Praise! To celebrate, let’s take a peek inside my Play by Sephora November box. Because, why not celebrate the end of a kind of crummy month with beauty samples?
I’m currently writing this on my iPhone, freezing…because the power is out due to some nearby construction and subsequently there goes the heat. I wouldn’t normally start a post on such a negative note but it speaks to the calamity of errors that has been the month of November. Thank goodness December is now less than two days away and we can all find solace in sugary treats, endless holiday films, beautiful lights and singing along to Mariah Carey’s All I want for Christmas on repeat. (Seriously, does that song EVER get old. I say no.)
One thing November brought that wasn’t a compete fiasco was my Play by Sephora Box! I thought we could celebrate the end of such a chaotic month by taking a peak inside and reveling in what the Sephora masters think I should be putting on my face now. I actually quite like the Play Sephora box selection this month and am eager to give everything a go.
If you’re unsure what a Play by Sephora is, it’s a new monthly beauty box subscription hosted by the mother ship of all beauty retailers: Sephora.
For $10 a month, you’ll receive 5 deluxe beauty samples and and an invitation to a private Play party at Sephora. At the party, the on-staff beauty gurus will show you how to best apply and make use of your new beauty bits. Sadly, I haven’t been able to make it to one of the Play dates yet, but I hope to with December’s box to be able to share more about that experience with you. I mean, doesn’t a pretty party around the holidays sound pretty amazing? I think so.
Anyway, let’s get going. Here are the beauty products I received in the November Play by Sephora box!
Glam Glow GravityMud Firming Treatment (Full-Sized $69)
I’m sure I’m not the only one who has heard endlessly brilliant things about the GlamGlow face masks. Having so many fave masks on hand already, I haven’t been able to convince myself to shovel out the money to try them myself so to receive a hefty sample is a treat for sure! Absolutely putting this to the test on “Face Mask Thursday” this week. Lord knows I need all the skin-firming help I can get!
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Rosegold (Full-Sized $29)
I’ve shared my thoughts on the Laura Mercier Caviar sticks a few times before. I find them nice, but only with a terrific primer. Otherwise they tend to slip and slide around, which I’m sure is not what any of us are looking for. I did try this stick out with my Lorac primer already and really liked the effect. Rosegold is a fitting shade for any season, but complimented the autumnal colors outside very well. You can wear this on its own or partner it up with your favorite shadows.
Caudalie Vinosource Creme Sorbet Moisturizer (Full-Sized $39)
I’ve used the beauty elixir and makeup remover from Caudalie before, giving them both high marks. So, I’m excited to see what their moisturizer brings to the table. I’ve yet to try this on my face but I did apply some to my hand and it has a lovely citrus scent that could very well be a sorbet. The moisturizer comes out looking thicker, but actually blends and massages into the skin very easily. I could see this working very nicely in the morning before applying your makeup.
Cover FX Illuminating Primer (Full-Sized $38)
Here’s something that may shock you: I’m not so big on primers. I’m very specific about requiring a long-lasting foundation, which would make you think I’m pro-primer…but alas I’m just very demanding and want my foundation to be perfection without one. It’s just one added step I don’t like to take the time for in the morning, you know? We all have our quirks, after all. That said, I’m going to TRY this with the foundations I neglect to see if this primer will make me like them more. (And thus, actually use them.) Will this prevent any weird breakdown, patches or settling? We shall see!
Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Lip Gel in ‘Pin-Up Pink’ (Full-Sized $12)
November DOES seem like an odd month to be dishing out Pin-Up Pink, no? Perhaps not the most ideal time for Barbie pink lips. With that said, I don’t see myself giving this a try until at least March and I MAY gift it to my step-niece before then as a token of appreciation (because she just loves playing with makeup). It is a nice gesture tho, Sephora – also, I am interested in trying out Sephora’s makeup line so feel free to send something next month I can use immediately.
If you’re not yet a subscriber, definitely check out the Play by Sephora Box service. You can read all about it, here. I’ve previously had and canceled both Birchbox and Ipsy, but am actually enjoying the Sephora box. I think going to the parties will make it even that more fun.
Stay tuned because tomorrow I have a really stunning eyeshadow palette to share with you. Then, that’s a wrap on November and it’s full-speed ahead to Christmas! *woo*
