Alberta Ferretti opens Fall 2016 Couture Week with a fringe bang in Paris!
Happy Sunday, loves! It may be Fourth of July weekend, but even more exciting – it’s the start of Couture Week in Paris! *woop* So I interrupt our weekend of cookouts, cocktails and fireworks to dish about a little haute couture. Usually, Paris Couture Week opens with a signature Sunday evening show by Atelier Versace. But with this season’s extensive lineup, Sunday’s jam-packed schedule also included collections from greats like Ulyana Sergeenko, Guo Pei and the ultra-luxurious Alberta Ferretti.
For me, Alberta Ferretti is like a glass of champagne – glamorous and a whole lotta fun. So, I was no doubt elated when the Italian house received a coveted spot on the haute couture week schedule. After all, no one does glitz quite like Ferretti and the Fall 2016 Couture collection kicked off couture week with a giant fringe bang!
We all enjoy a Daisy Buchanan moment now and then, but what I most love about Alberta Ferretti‘s Fall 2016 couture collection – is that fringe goes beyond Great Gatsby moments. Amidst sparkling tassels that will jingle around the dance floor is a demure satin gown with feathered fringe lines and elegant pleated silk that breaks into graceful ‘fringe’ flaps.
Beyond the roaring 20’s, inspiration from the sea emerges into cool evening gowns with swirling teal and blues and skirts reminiscent of golden seashells. Bodices are decorated with netting and sparkling starfish and coral embellishments. Alberta Ferretti takes us under-the-sea in a fun and unexpected way that’s both sexy and romantic.
And because these clothes are even better in motion, below is the full runway video:
Since we are in the celebratory mood of Fourth of July weekend over here in America, Alberta Ferretti’s Fall 2016 couture collection feels like the perfect sparkler dance to open the week. It perfectly balances fun razzle dazzle with classic glamour and is sure to decorate red carpets and major galas in the months to come.
