Ahoy, there! Tommy Hilfiger rocked the boat at New York Fashion Week with his very cruise-inspired Fall/Winter 2016 collection. The high waters have never looked so good.
Tommy Hilfiger is EASILY one of my favorite shows of New York Fashion Week, every single time. For Tommy, a runway show is not just a runway show…it’s a spectacle, with theatrical large-scale sets that rival Chanel.
For the Fall/Winter 2016 collection, Tommy Hilfiger built a grand cruise ship to debut an on-the-sea inspired collection. The All-American brand had an All-American studded runway, with Gigi Hadid leading the pack. The supermodeled created buzz around the show as she took over the brand’s Snapchat. She also opened and closed the show, with a hot pant get-up in the middle.
Beyond SnapChat, Tommy Hilfiger also expanded their digital reach by snagging Instagram’s hottest models and introducing the first “InstaPit” – a pit specially designed for Instagram media. And with a set as grande as a cruise ship, what better way to make waves on social media.
But enough about the set and the brand’s digital domination, let’s talk about the clothes!
For Tommy Hilfiger’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection, he pulled inspiration from the classic looks of our past while injecting the carefree spirit of today’s modern woman. “This collection acknowledges the romance of the past and embraces the youthful energy of now.”
In sparkling tiaras, models were queen of the high sea. They hit the deck, decked out in classic military coats, fishermen sweaters, 40’s style dresses and nautical patterns. And, of course, no sailor style would be complete without some traditionally wide-legged and high-waisted trousers.
Oh gosh how I love this collection. All 58 looks of it! I did manage to whittle it down a bit to some favorite of the favorite looks – each and everyone feeling perfectly vintage American, yet fresh and new. Mr. Hilfiger is one heck of a captain:
I honestly love every thing about this collection – straight down to the socks. Tommy Hilfiger certainly makes a good case for wear socks with every form of footwear, doesn’t he? He also has me wanting to date a sailor, pronto.
As the collection is so wonderful – I uploaded all 58 looks for you to review here! So go on, review and swoon away.
