Looking to kick-off the new year with a new fitness plan?
You’re not alone. As you join the ranks of millions on a 2016 fitness quest, here is fashionable athletic gear to help you dress the part! (Which, really, is half the fun.)
Let’s take a walk down fitness memory lane.
I hate team sports. In my childhood, my dad was desperate to get me into softball and basketball. He had starry eyed visions of me becoming a star athlete, but I much preferred sitting on the bench in my Umbro shorts. Striking out? Fine by me. Missing the basket? Who cares…
All that turned upside down in junior high, when I made my first foray into a regular fitness routine by quitting cross country (running? ew!) and hitting the mat. I picked up a couple yoga VHS tapes from Gaiam and the rest, as they say, is history. While twisting and twining my body to the instructor’s commands, the power of yoga quite literally blew my mind. I loved the feeling of pushing my body to new heights, while achieving mental clarity. Next, I sidestepped to Pilates – where I developed a rock solid core and perfect posture. Suddenly, I was looking forward to regular workouts and thrilled by my progress. This shows the power of exercise. If you are looking to make a foray into fitness then you might like to check out Nathan Fitness. There is no shame in seeking help in order to propel yourself to your peak condition!
Many years later, I now practice both yoga and Pilates on my own – but I’ll always love and respect Gaiam as the brand that introduced me to the many benefits of both. If you like solo exercise and are looking for equipment available a little closer to home, check out Treadmills in India under 50000. While I don’t use their workout videos anymore, I still turn to Gaiam as the ultimate resource for my athletic gear. I kicked (thank god) my Umbro shorts to the curb, and now dress in sleek leggings, tanks and sports bras while breaking a sweat. It’s athletic gear that’s both fashionable and practical in achieving your fitness goals.
New Year, New Fitness Goals!
Today, I want to kick-start a new year of fitness goals by talking about our fitness OOTDs. Let’s be honest, sometimes a bowl of ice cream and Netflix sounds a lot more pleasant than squats and lunges. I’ve been there. We all have. When that does happen, stepping into a slinky pair of leggings with a chic jacket makes leaving House of Cards behind a little bit easier. Fake it till you make it, right?
Since I do have a LOVE of Gaiam and believe in their gear, here’s a roundup of some of my favorite pieces of theirs. Trust me, this post is not sponsored by them in any way – but I have a solid 10+ years of history with them and they make great stuff!

Do let me know, what are your fitness goals for 2016?
I’m starting off the year with a back surgery, which is a downer but makes a great opportunity to focus on light stretches that build flexibility while avoiding stiffness. Walking is also a classic favorite! One of my favorite of favorite things to do is to pop in my headphones and get lost in my head space while trotting along to the music. Workout favorites include: Florence and the Machine, Lady Gaga, One Direction and Muse.
I have a feeling, dreamers, that 2016 is going to be a really big year! I really look forward to making great things happen, and sharing with you every step of the way. Remember, the pitfalls of 2015 are behind us. With a new year, comes new possibilities – and the sky is the limit!
Happy New Year, dreamer!
