From secretary to executive, the Peggy Olson fashion evolution on Mad Men might be the most profound of them all! x
Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap : (Episode 5×03)
I nearly thought I wouldn’t get this week’s Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap post up on-time. But as it turns out, nothing will hold me back from a Mona fashion take down! No one, and I mean no one, on this show has more pizazz than Mona! Not even Ali can compete…not to mention this week she was kind of a downer our Ali. Guess life isn’t as fun when you’re not the one playing the games, huh?
Anywho! We also had Mr. Fitz back in the action…cane and all. I always appreciate an Ezra Fitz moment, but somehow a bit of scruff really does the man good. Are you an Aria and Ezra fan? Because I am! I think they’re the cutest ever! Fortunately I enjoy their angst just as much as I enjoy their fluff. So I’m happy to ride the Ezria train through the fallout of his secret novel.
But, Ezra aside…it’s really about the fashion here so let’s get right into!
This week’s episode opens with funeral attire. Of the girls, I’d say Spencer’s is my favorite look. |
Ali decides to wear a dress of her mother’s. And, it looks like…well, something her mother would wear. Nuff said! |
I love when we get to see all the girls in the same frame. It clearly defines their style. Such as Spencer is uber preppy. And Hanna is okay with giant tassels hanging from around her neck. |
I’m very disappointed we didn’t get to see this full outfit. It appears to be a bejeweled crop top paired with a white skater-skirt and gold belt-chain. Cute! |
Emily’s found another swimmer recruit. Anyone else blank out when the swim team’s around? |
Not only did we get an Ezra/Aria scene…we got Aria in maybe one of her cutest ensembles ever. I’m glad the stylist of the show knew to really bring it for an Ezria scene. #EzriaForever |
Then, when Ezra’s away Aria returns to her usual skull and ugly t-shirt roots. |
Obligatory Jason screenshot, just because…when he’s there, why not? |
Hanna in modern day should take a lesson from her past self. While this outfit isn’t Western…it is very poor fitting and 100% unflattering. |
Mona being perfect Mona. Never misses a beat or lets her lipstick go untouched. |
I’m a much bigger fan of this outfit from the waist up like in the school shot. When you see the skirt with this it weighs it down. She should’ve paired this with some great jeans. |
I love how bejeweled out Mona is these days. Clearly I’m not the only one obsessed with blinged-out necklines. |
And let’s end on a high note. Ezra with some scruff. Scruffy Ezra for the win! |
Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap : Whirly Girly (Episode 5×02)
It’s Friday, which for the next 10 weeks or so means one thing: Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap. If you’re like me, you’re hooked on following the girls through the twists and turns of this never-ending mystery. But along the journey and in-between clues (which are few and far between most times) there are always some intriguing fashion choices to be had!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that Mona and Ali had a scene together in real time? I won’t say anything in case you’re yet to watch but it was glorious. I’m excited to see those two square off more and more!
But for fashion, the episode started with the girls in their ensembles from last week. Which I won’t repeat, but in case you missed it here’s that post here.
PJs might seem boring, but I’m kind of fascinated to know that Hanna sleeps in tropical sweatshirts with giant moons. |
Complimentary Jason’s hair appreciation screenshot just because! |
I quite like that Sporty Emily is latching on to the sportswear trend. LOVE this jacket! An awesome jersey underneath, bonus points for Emily Fields! |
As soon as Spencer learned there were points awarded for ensembles she whipped out the big guns with this military/trench romper, black tights and knee high boots for the win. |
Toby’s back. And something seriously big is happening with his hair. Apparently while in London, sh%t went d-o-w-n. |
It was overall an exciting episode! Maybe not as action packed as that stunner of a premiere but for PLL, the plot is still moving along nicely. Next week it seems we’ll return to Rosewood High and I’m excited about what that means for the girls’ outfits.
I’m also keeping my fingers crossed for an appearance from Ezra…and by the way, with Ravenswood cancelled when will we finally have Toby back? Hopefully a.s.a.p.
Because I’m a sucker, I think I’m going to have to award Spencer for my favorite look of this episode. With Emily ringing in a very close second. And then Mona closely following her. Those 3 looked fantastic. Whose look was your favorite?
Pretty Little Liars Fashion Recap : EscApe from New York (episode 5×01)
Pretty Little LiArs is back for the summer. And thank god! Because it just wouldn’t feel like summer without Aria, Hanna, Emily, Spencer and the gang. After the success of the Mad Men fashion recaps on Dream in Lace, I’ve decided to keep the fashion-recapping train a movement with PLL. The styling on this show is so interesting to watch. And, if you’d like to snag the looks of the other girls…definitely check out my series How to Be: Aria, Spencer, Emily, Hanna and Ali.
This week’s premiere was one big whopper of a premiere! There was more plot development in this season 5 premiere than I think all of season 4 combined. And now that she show is moving along at a quicker pace, I’m excited to see where it goes.
Mad Men Fashion Recap : The Strategy (Episode 7×06)
Mad Men from day one, I cannot express the happiness Sunday’s episode The Strategy brought me – and probably every other longtime fan out there. I always tell people what sets Mad Men apart is that each episode is not an episode, but rather a visual essay. There’s always a point that’s so perfectly driven home through the lives of these characters in the workplace and their personal lives. Sunday’s episode touched heavily on the breakdown of the traditional American family…and the birth of a new family unit. And, oh no, that family isn’t a family sitting, smiling at each other around the dinner table notes Peggy. The new family is in fact unrelated people brought together by relating to something else.
And there’s also a new family table, and it looks like this:
And I knowwww these posts aren’t supposed to be about the show in particular, but it’s oh so beautiful the arch Pete, Peggy and Don have taken from the first episode to now, laughing together over burgers while throwing out the rule-book. That as different as they each are, they come together as a family. They’re like the anti-family family. The anti-American dream family, somehow living the dream.
So honestly, I do stress you watch Sunday’s episode. Even if you’re not a viewer of the show you’ll find merit in it. I guarantee.
But, not only was it a GREAT episode for the characters – it was a super great fashion episode with more looks this week than the average episodes. Plus, there’s two shirtless men – including Jon Hamm, and therefore it’s fashion gold.
Who was your favorite?
Mad Men Fashion Recap : The Runaways (Episode 7×05)
There was no Joan this week, so we had to make do with Megan. The good thing about Megan is she’s the type on the cutting edge of fashion – and obviously in high party mode. Her coifed hair and short hemline might have been the standout look of the episode if it wasn’t for Peggy swooping in at the last moment to steal the show. I’ve thought for a while that Peggy looks best in the royal blue. This week’s gold chain and peplum detailing stepped it up a few notches though. If I were the costume designer, I’d put Peggy in absolutely nothing but!
What was your favorite look from this week’s Mad Men?
