Urban Decay recently released their Naked Skin ‘One and Done’ Complexion Perfector, which promises to offer skincare and a clear complexion in one-step. After putting it to the test, let’s review just how well it works.
If I’m honest, on a weekday morning the last thing I want to do is labor over my makeup…least of all my skincare and foundation. So, when Urban Decay launched the ‘One and Done’ tinted moisturizer/BB/whatever product, I was all over it. We’re entering the time of year when their Naked Skin foundation is heavily in rotation on my vanity so the addition of a new complexion product from the line had me pumped, literally.
When Tati on Glam Life Guru called the product a do, I was even more eager to test it out. If you’re unfamiliar with Tati, she’s one of the must informative and honest makeup reviewers out there and when she gives a product a thumbs up my ears are perking so fast.
One and Done. What exactly does that mean?
Urban Decay makes a lot of claims with this product. It provides skincare treatment, SPF, blurs imperfections similarly to a primer and evens out your skintone. All of that in one product? Oh you know I’m more than interested.
Can I really use this in place of moisturizer?
I would say yes, but only in the warmer months of the year. Now that the temperatures are in the 70s and above here with humidity, I definitely don’t need to use a morning moisturizer with this. In the winter though, I absolutely would double up. It also has an SPF of 20, so if you’re in the habit of applying sunscreen separately, you can skip that step.
What kind of coverage does Naked Skin’s ‘One and Done’ give me?
Lightweight coverage is always preferred, but is sometimes a bit tricky to achieve. With this product, Urban Decay delivers a product that is light on the skin as a tinted moisturizer, while providing coverage that goes a step beyond your typical BB cream. I would consider this light to medium coverage, but is definitely buildable to cover any pigmentation areas or spots. I’m actually pretty impressed with how well this works as an everyday ‘foundation’.
How long does the coverage last?
For me, this lasts well throughout the entire day without any touch ups. I do set with Laura Mercier’s translucent setting powder, but beyond that I can’t be bothered to do much else and this still looks pretty when I’m leaving work after 5. I’d say, for what is in theory a BB cream, it goes above and beyond what I would typically expect.
Now, does it settle or crease?
I don’t have many wrinkles, but I do have some fine lines around my eyes and if I’m not on my A-game with skincare, can get some clogged pores. (Ew! Keep that Clarisonic close, people.) Fortunately, I really haven’t noticed this settling anywhere strangely. One ‘problem area’ that I’m always hyper-sensitive about is my nose area. Sometimes I’ll get some creasing around my outer nose or my foundation will settle strangely, but I don’t have problems with Urban Decay’s One and Done. I don’t feel like I’m equipped to make a judgment if you have a lot of wrinkles, but I really think this does lean more on the blurring side of things.
What type of finish does the One and Done have?
Absolutely this gives a radiance effect to your skin. It’s the perfect product to give you a subtle glow, as if maybe you’ve mixed some cream highlight in your foundation. The finish is a very natural demi-matte.
Is this product vegan-friendly?
Yes! Thank goodness, right?
Overall, I’m pretty happy with Urban Decay’s Naked Skin ‘One and Done’. It’s a perfect everyday product that is great for the office or a weekend running errands. For a special event, I would gravitate towards a more full coverage foundation..or on very bad skin days. But in general, I think it’s a terrific product that gives a fair amount of coverage and lasts way longer than I would expect it to.
If you’ve tried this out, let me know what you think and how you apply it. I’ve been using a makeup brush, but I’m interested how this works with a beauty sponge…or even straight with your hands.
