Whether it’s on the runways of couture week or his ready-to-wear collections, Mr. Mabille certainly knows how to consistently deliver. It’s refreshing – how he continually cultivates the unconventional from classic silhouettes and designs pieces that I want to snag for my wardrobe, immediately.
Always the master at giving tradition a face lift, Alexis Mabille’s Resort 2017 collection brings life to the pre-spring season with crisp whites, poppy florals and a modern fusion of the masculine meets feminine. From sharp suiting to intricate slip dresses, he designed a collection that’s versatile and plays to the many sides of the modern woman. In today’s age of personal style, it’s an off-beat way of dressing that hits all of my moods. After all, who wants to be boxed in? We all have those collared-shirt occasions – same as we crave slinking around town in satin and lace. It’s fun to play the part, isn’t it?
I’m most impressed by the way Mabille’s Resort 2017 collection is as straight-edged as it is eccentric. Preppy collared white shirts and trousers are met with sexy slip dresses and flowing tunics. At times, he revels in the 90’s and at others he celebrates our 70’s roots. And yet, it all seamlessly works together. Pretty genius. Pretty effective.
With such a diverse Resort 2017 collection, it’s clear the Alexis Mabille woman is proudly multi-dimensional. Mabille says inspiration is drawn from his lively group of friends. “My friends have strong personalities. Their diversity inspires me: they are bohemian, rock, gentle and creative…They give me energy and make me laugh with their unique personality, vitality and their yen for travel and knowledge.”
