Discover busy morning routines that make life-on-the-go easier and get your day off to a smooth start!
My name is Kelly and I am NOT a morning person.
I’ve had a codependent relationship with the snooze button for years and live with an internal clock that much prefers the nighttime hours.
But like many working adults around the globe, I follow the standard 9-to-5 hours of operation that we’ve all been accustomed to for decades.
And it terms of effort, a little preparation goes a long way when it comes to getting your morning off on the right foot! Having a morning routine is essential for best managing multiple obligations and responsibilities at once. This way you walk into the day organized and feeling your best.
If you struggle with mornings:
Believe me, I feel you!
I’ve cultivated a busy morning routine for myself that helps make life a whole lot easier when on-the-go throughout the work day. Find my top tips for a fresher start, below:
Busy Morning Routine Tips
Sleep Smarter
“Go to bed earlier” is good advice, but not enough.
Take time to listen to your body and learn just much sleep you need to perform well. Be it 6 to 8 hours, stick with it. Your body will slip into a routine that will make rising from bed in the morning easier and easier. Once your best sleep pattern is worked out, be as careful as possible not to deviate on the weekend. That will make the Monday morning alarm clock be much less painful. Be kind to yourself and go to bed when your body needs.
Plan Your Outfit the Night Before
While cliche, this is absolutely a busy morning routine tip. Sure! It’s possible you’ll find yourself switching things up in the morning but having an outfit ready-to-go is helpful!
Pro Tip? Take things further by having a go-to emergency outfit that’s just waiting for you on a morning where you have zero time to spare. Think of that as part of a strategic plan for those days when your mind is racing and you have to get out the door.
Store Essentials In Your Car
My car is not just a car. It also serves as a fridge, desk, closet and vanity on-the-go.
Stowing water bottles, raw almonds and a couple protein bars on hand will help keep you nourished should you forget or not have time for a proper lunch. Emergency deodorant, breath mints and a comb will help you feel fresh heading into a meeting. And if you’ve ever broken a heel or spilled coffee on yourself, you’ll probably agree a spare set of shoes and cardigan will never hurt.
Pre-Pack Your Lunch
This is an oldie but a goodie busy morning routine tip that you probably picked up in elementary school. Whether it’s leftovers from dinner or a sandwich, take 5 minutes to get your lunch together before leaving the kitchen at night. You can even pack lunches for the entire week at once if you like! This is a terrific way to save time and money.
More Busy Morning Routine Tips
Meditate – Even If Briefly
Start your day off with clarity by carving out some time to meditate, even if only 3-5 minutes. Even a short session of looking inwards and practicing breathing exercises will help center you and clear the cache of any unnecessary thoughts.
Shower at Nighttime
Save yourself a lot of time in the morning by showering and washing your hair the night before. It’s remarkable how much extra time even a 5-minute shower can add to getting ready in the morning. The drying off. The blow drying of the hair. The moisturizing. It takes time!
Get these things done in the evening that way you can slide right out the door in the morning.
Keep Your Alarm Across the Room
Hitting the snooze button has no place in a solid busy morning routine. A 100% guaranteed way to get you out of bed in the morning? Set your alarm clock up across the room and at a loud volume. This way you won’t have to fight to resist the urge of hitting the snooze button.
No Browsing Social Media or Emails in Bed
We’ve all been there when we reach for the phone first thing in the morning and lose track of time. To best avoid this, store your phone across from your bed or even another room if you’re not using it as an alarm. It serves only as a distraction you simply don’t need when starting your day.
Thank you for reading! I hope these busy morning routine tips help you get your day off to smooth start.

This is actually a pretty useful post, I am literally the most unorganised person on the whole planet so any tips along that line are helpful! I like the tip of keeping your alarm clock across the room, I have overslept so many times by turning off the alarm and falling asleep again, and I am so guilty of spending way to much get ready time in the morning laying in bed on my phone!

Great tips, I totally think I should invest in an alarm that’s separate from my phone to stop tempting me into social media browsing! xxx
