January 2022 favorites that helped me keep the winter blues away!

Hello, there! How are you doing? It’s wild that we’re already one month down for the New Year. As we head into February I wanted to check in with you and as well as share January 2022 favorites that helped make a bitterly cold month a little more bearable.

When I was brainstorming forms of content I want to share on DreaminLace this year, one thing I decided on for sure was resurrecting and sticking to the practice of sharing monthly favorites. I’ve always been so interested in this style of round-ups from others and they’re also great for me to look back on. The plan for this monthly series will be sharing favorites as well as having a bit of a heart-to-heart where we can check in with one another.

So how did January 2022 go for me?

I have to admit I got off to a slow start for the New Year. There was no charging in with gusto as I have before with proclamations that it’s going to be the BEST YEAR EVER where so many wonderful things happen. Instead? I walked into 2022 with ease and no big, bold expectations for the 365 days ahead. My plan is let take things one quarter at time and let things unfold as they will while finding joy in my surroundings.

I did make one goal/resolution for the year however — to get physically stronger. In 2021 I had a great amount of success evolving my fitness routine in terms of cardio but I didn’t focus enough on strength. In 2022, I’m changing that and will be frequenting all the outstanding strength classes available on the Peloton app. Robin Arzon is my fav! And I can go ahead and name her as one of my January 2022 favorites because we’ve already spent quite a bit of time together this month in her arms, core and full body strength classes. Her Taylor Swift and Eminem core sessions are phenomenal if you’re looking to branch out!

January 2022 Favorites

Dior Atelier of Dreams Eyeshadow Palette

The holidays may have wrapped but there’s no way I could share January 2022 favorites without celebrating the Holiday 2021 eyeshadow palette from Dior that I wore religiously throughout the month. In general, I much prefer the formula used in the Dior 5 couleur palettes over the one dryer one in their Backstage collection. These shadows blend so softly and effortlessly on the eyes and they’re also much more long-wearing.

The Atelier of Dreams palette is limited edition and one I’m strongly considering purchasing a backup of as it holds all the shades I most love in my daily makeup routine. Bronze, deep browns and gold all together in a compact that’s perfect for everyday use and travel.

Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil

This miracle and best-selling product from Biossance is a favorite mine throughout the year but especially in the winter months. Vitamin C is an ingredient that awakens my complexion but it also unfortunately tends to dry out my skin. By balancing it with plant-based squalane, this facial oil helps me reap the benefits of Vitamin C in a way that doesn’t strip my skin of its moisture — which is DEFINITELY a bonus in the winter!

Smashbox Eyeshadow Primer

When I randomly picked up Smashbox’s eyeshadow primer from Sephora, I didn’t expect much from it. It was a spur of the moment decision when my standard favorite from Lancome was sold out and completely caught me by surprised when it became one of my January 2022 favorites. The primer is moisturizing, blends over the eyes effortlessly, creates an even surface for applying eyeshadow and locks everything into place all day long.

Revlon Ultra HD Snap Nail Polish

It’s hard to find a nail polish that competes with OPI in terms of being chip resistant but I found one that does! Revlon dropped their new Ultra HD Snap nail polishes late last year and I’ve become obsessed. They have such nice, full pigmentation — so much so you really could get away with just one coat — and last for days and days on my nails without chips (which is a miracle).

Aveda Chakra 1 Balancing Pure-Fume

Not to get too hippie on you, but I love discovering new things from Aveda whenever I stock up on my favorite shampoo. One of my more recent finds is that their line of essential oils has expanded to include a line of mists designed to provide balance. I’m no expert on the subject but I did to a little reading on the subject of Chakras last year and was curious. Perusing the full collection, I was most drawn to the musky scent to stay grounded and I’ve loved using this as a perfume on mornings when I’m feel tired or anxious as well as in the evening to unwind before bed.

L’Occitane Holiday Lotion

A limited edition holiday release I have already bought backups of? L’Occitane’s Winter Walk Hand Cream! Initially I picked this up when they were out of the lavender and boy am I glad I did. For one, the lotion comes out of the packaging as though you’re piping icing — which is just cute. But in addition to that, it’s a nourishing treat for my dry hands with such a lovely fragrance of fig, mandarin and mulberry. I currently have three on standby and I hope this is one they bring back again next year.

Rare Beauty Cream Bronzer Sticks

It’s early on but I predict the new Rare Beauty cream bronzer sticks won’t just be one of my January 2022 favorites but a favorite of the year as a whole! These apply like silky butter to the skin and I’m obsessed. Find more details in DreaminLace‘s full review.

Rare Beauty Blush in Hope

Alongside the new bronzer stick, I picked up the latest shade to arrive from the Rare Beauty blush collection. “Hope” is the perfect everyday peachy pink to add color to my cheeks and it applies so beautifully.

Fuzzy Slippers

Considering we’re in the thick of hibernation season, it might not come as a surprise that my favorite form of footwear is faux fur slippers. These from J.Crew Factory are so incredibly soft and now 50% off!

Sterling Silver and Rose Gold Heart Necklace

I was browsing Fred Meyer Jewelers looking for holiday gifts for others when I found this heart necklace (now 80% off) for myself. In early January, I got around to wearing it and honestly — haven’t taken it off since. I love its simple design and how the necklace essentially goes with whatever I’m wearing.

Yellowjackets AND Dexter New Blood

Thank goodness for Showtime keeping me entertained in January! The number of questions I have ahead of Yellowjackets forthcomiing season two is a mile long and I’m hoping the record-breaking viewership convinces Showtime we need some form of Dexter spin-off. Fingers crossed!

Betty White Audiobooks Aplenty

Following her passing, I was eager to learn more about such an incredible woman who spread joy and laughs wherever she went. That led me to listening to not one, but FOUR audiobooks that were read by Miss Betty herself. It’s been so much fun listening to her tell stories about her life, career and love of animals. This one’s my favorite.
