Spring sources of inspiration to boost your levels of creativity and motivation!
I’ll be the first to tell you: I’m not always a “glass half full type”.
I try to be, but it can take work at times and the last year we’ve all experienced? Well, it definitely took its toll on keeping inspiration high when plans continued to change and be canceled.
But if there is one thing I’ve learned in life – especially over the last year, it’s that putting the work into maintaining levels of optimism is essential if you want to stay afloat during a difficult time.
And that’s why you’ll find me routinely clinging to my guided meditation sessions, seeking out thought provoking reads, listening to podcasts and keeping on the lookout for lessons in life’s toughest moments. While working at maintaining a positive mindset does in fact take work, I have to say the rewards are more than worth it. Thankfully!
5 Spring Sources of Inspiration
Late last summer, I opened up and shared some sources of inspiration that were helping me feel creative and motivated. Today? I’m back with a list of spring sources of inspiration that are helping open my mind and give me fresh perspective this season.
While each of us are all following our own unique journey, collectively we all need bursts of inspiration now and then to help us navigate life’s biggest highs and lows.
To help you keep your own juices of creativity and motivation flowing this season, enjoy a look at 5 spring sources of inspiration that have been a big help to me below. I hope they can be help to you as well!
Wisdom from Oprah Winfrey
I gave up reading fiction back in March after numerous failed attempts to complete a novel. Instead? I’ve been gravitating towards inspiring female voices through podcasts and audiobooks. Most recently – I’ve been devouring Oprah’s words of wisdom and her audiobook “What I Know for Sure” has particularly resonated as me.
While available in print, I greatly enjoyed the audiobook version of What I know for Sure — which is read by Oprah herself. She shares many powerful truths about her own life and career. She also shares questions she asks herself daily to continue to grow and evolve.
“How can I reach my potential more fully” is a key question she journals about and it’s one I think we could all ask in our own lives. Let’s collectively challenge ourselves to observe our situations and find ways we can achieve more in all areas of life.
Undaunted by Kara Goldin
Another audiobook I loved recently? Undaunted: Overcoming Doubt and Doubters by Kara Goldin. It’s one of my favorite spring sources of inspiration but is also a story I’ll carry with me always.
With frank honesty, Kara shares her very real experiences while building a successful career and how she left it all behind to launch her own start-up beverage company called “Hint”. The idea for Hint came to her when she started making fruit-infused water at home to help in kicking her Diet Coke addiction. At that time, there was no healthy, natural fruit infused water without added chemicals or sugar available on the market — so she set out to do just that!
Kara’s story on breaking into into an industry she knew nothing about, and hitting many setbacks along the way, is honest food for thought no matter what your career trajectory may be.
The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman
On January 20th, a ray of light burst on the global stage when Amanda Gorman delivered a poem entitled “The Hill We Climb” at the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Madam Vice President Kamala Harris. Dressed in colorful Prada, she shared wisdom that extends far beyond her young age of 22 and it was without a doubt the biggest highlight of the ceremony.
After capturing hearts around the world, Amanda published her inaugural poem in a small but ever so powerful book that we can all hold onto as a keepsake and repeated reminder. Obviously I had to pick up a copy and I’m sure you can imagine why it’s one of my top spring of inspiration.
As soon as my copy arrived, I sat reading her words aloud to myself and will continue to do periodically as I continue moving forward in life. Her poem celebrates progress made, while inspiring her audience to keep taking steps forward in making more positive changes around the world.
The Peloton App
Okay, so these last two spring sources of inspiration I feel a bit cheesy and cliche sharing – but they truly do make a difference when you commit to them. I signed up for the Peloton fitness app back in January and it’s not only been great at helping me find a workout routine that I enjoy — I also find many of the instructors and classes to be incredibly inspiring.
The app itself features guided classes in cycling, power walking and running as well as strength, yoga, meditation and even pilates. My favorites are cycling and the outdoor hiking classes, but it’s a really customizable platform where you can find what works best for you. The music playlists are outstanding, as are the variety of instructors who motivate you to keep going and push through any feelings of giving up.
What makes the Peloton classes particularly inspiring for me, is the premise that each session is about showing up for yourself and shedding any stresses or concerns weighing on your mind. My favorite instructors are Rebecca Kennedy, Jess King, Matty Maggiacomo and Cody Rigsby — but they’re all pretty great to be honest.
Morning Affirmations
Yes! I’m wrapping up my favorite spring sources of inspiration with a classic one. But manifestations really do help you go into your day with a positive mindset. Besides, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez both swear by affirmations so they’re at least worth giving a try.
To find morning affirmations, there are a number of resources and places online you can turn. I took the easiest route possible and went to — YOUTUBE!! There, I found Bob Baker and his series of “I Am” morning affirmations on a variety of topics.
I’ve embedded for you below my current favorite. It’s a 10-minute session that starts with a brief visualization practice before going into affirmations you can either say aloud or repeat in your mind. Throughout the session, you’ll find yourself connecting with the positive energy that already lives within you. Harness that as you move through your day!
