As we live through a continually difficult time, here are 5 things bringing me happiness this month!
Greetings, dreamers! I hope you and your loved ones are continuing to stay well and safe during the ongoing pandemic. 2020 continues to bring so many challenges and at this point I think we’re pretty much all just counting down the days till 2021 arrives.
As the cases continue to rise here in the United States, it’s becoming more and more clear that the holiday season will look very different as it has in years past. While that stinks, I think we can all agree maintaining health and safety is of the utmost importance so adjustments need to and should be made.
To champion positive vibes, I wanted to share a bit of a chatty post with you today reflecting on 5 things bringing me happiness in November.
5 Things Bringing Me Happiness in November 2020
Breaking Into the Holiday Content Early
I know, I know. Many will argue that the festive season shouldn’t begin till after Thanksgiving but I simply can’t wait this year. Netflix and the Hallmark channel are already rolling out their holiday content and yes — am already watching!! Holidate with Emma Roberts was fantastic on Netflix and the 24/7 Christmas films on the Hallmark channels are nice to have on hand when you need a little break from the news and the stresses of the day. I’ve also been LOVING Dolly Parton‘s new holiday album!
Basically, as difficult as this year has been — if something like holiday movies and music brings you joy? Go for it!!
Finding New Ways to Connect with People
In a year when we’re all instructed to socially distance and keep apart, things get start to feel a bit lonely if you’re not careful. But I continue to find new ways to connect with people using the power of the internet and it’s definitely a big help! Ahead of the election, I did so many virtual volunteer events phone banking with others all over the country. Connecting with the other volunteers as well as speaking with voters was surprisingly a lot of fun!! I’ve also joined some Facebook groups for creatives that are inspiring. It’s actually rather inspiring how much togetherness you can find with a little digging — even while safely staying apart.
Classic Movies
From The Burbs on STARZ to the Scream movies and all the TCM classics on HBO Max, I’ve always been really enjoying taking a walk down memory lane with some classics! Usually we’re so accustomed to new releases hitting the theater every week that we might not take time to revisit old favorites, but 2020 is certainly the perfect time to do so. It’s also a great time discover classic movies you haven’t yet had the chance to watch!
Implementing Self-Care Techniques in My Daily Routine
Last month, I shared a selection of my favorite self-care products and I continue to see these on the regular! I’ve also been getting back into yoga. I haven’t been to classes led by my favorite instructor since March, BUT — I have been taking advantage of the many sessions available for free on YouTube. Some days, I’ll just put on some calming music and get down to it listening to my body and what feels best to it at the time.
Fresh Flowers
It may sound strange, but one of the things bringing me joy this November really is getting back into having fresh flowers with me. I’ve gone without them for months because I just haven’t been back to Trader Joe’s as the lines are always so long whenever I swing by after work, but turns out — the floral department at my supermarket isn’t all the bad. Somehow the bouquets don’t last as long as those from TJs but having fresh roses or autumn blends around brings some cheer to my atmosphere.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope this short list of things bringing me happiness this season gives you some ideas of how to keep your spirits up during this trying time. Sending you and your loved ones lots of love! x
