Greetings and happy New Year to you! I must admit, I’ve been rolling out of 2021 at a much slower pace than I imagined I would.

It was undoubtedly quite the year and one that kept us on our toes in ways we’ve yet to fully process. All that said, I expected to charge into 2022 with GUSTO but instead — it’s been a little bit more of a slow boil…

The act of returning to work after two glorious holiday weeks off? Jarring.

That said, the relaxation of that time off really worked its magic and I’m feeling in a much better mindset than I have for a while. And while others are focusing on setting New Year’s resolutions, I’ve decided to completely ditch that philosophy. Instead? I’m going with New Year intentions to create balance hopefully a 2022 experience that’s filled with productivity but also joyful memories.

Setting New Year Intentions for 2022

In the event you are looking at the twelve months laid out before us and plotting how you’d like to spend them wisely, I’m sharing my newly adopted format for setting New Year intentions with you! The template covers four very important categories to lead a fulfilled year: personal, health, professional and recreation.

Learn a little bit more about the categories below as well as suggestions to help you set your own intentions.

1. PERSONAL

Personal intentions are designed to help you reclaim time for YOU and what brings you joy.

From spending more time connecting or re-connecting with friends to getting into the habit of journaling or scheduling more time for a hobby you love.

2. HEALTH

Choose health intentions for the New Year that will help you focus on improving your overall physical and mental well-being.

Commit to a fitness routine, add more whole foods to your diet, get that important yearly check-up with your doctor or even simply establish yourself with a new primary care if you don’t already have one.

3. PROFESSIONAL

No matter what career path you are on, setting New Year intentions is a terrific way to approach your annual plan. Some goals for the year may be set for you at work, but it’s also important to have your own.

Establish a routine to help you work more efficiently, work towards a promotion, launch your search for a new job, continue your education, invest in a certification for your field or expand your professional network.

4. RECREATION

As we know, maintaining a good work/life balance is incredibly important! And in 2022 – we hopefully will have the opportunity to get out and about a little bit more. Set recreational intentions for the New Year that will help you broaden your horizons and create opportunities for you to have FUN!!

Plan to visit your local zoo, attend a concert or take a road trip to a nearby town you’ve never visited before!
