Sharing my holiday 2020 bucket list for this rather different festive season!
Greetings and happy holidays to you! Currently I find myself in my last full week of work before a two-week holiday break and I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m counting down the days. For obvious reasons, this year has been especially difficult and I think we are all more than deserving of some quality rest and relaxation. Here, here!
As I look forward to celebrating the holidays, I of course realize that things are quite different this year. Nonetheless, I have a few festive things in mind I’d like to do to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. In the event you’re looking for a little inspo for this unique festive season, I thought I’d share my holiday 2020 bucket list with you to spread a little holiday cheer.
My Holiday 2020 Bucket List
1. Make Chocolate Pretzels with Sprinkles
This year, I’m scaling my holiday baking down A LOT. Normally I go a bit wild making an array of Christmas cookies, pound cake, homemade cinnamon rolls, the works. My Holiday 2020 bucket list is taking a a much more minimal approach. That said, I DO still very much want to make a festive treat for myself and the small number of family I’ll be able to celebrate with this season. I have it in my mind to make chocolate pretzel rods with festive sprinkles. I’ve never done this before, but in my head the plan I’ve worked out is super simple and won’t require much work at all. Here’s to that!!
2. Take Drives and Walks to Enjoy Local Christmas Lights
This item on my holiday 2020 bucket list is one I’ve already been getting a head start on. While I don’t feel right going to the mall or the local festival of lights to enjoy all the holiday decorations this year, I have been making an effort to enjoy those in surrounding neighborhoods. Taking nightly strolls has been a good way to get some extra steps in for the day while also enjoying all the pretty lights neighbors have been putting up. I’m also looking forward to taking a drive or two with a mug of cocoa and Christmas music on full blast.
3. Spend an Entire Day in My Christmas PJs
Over Black Friday weekend, I picked up this festive Christmas tree pajama set (currently on sale!!) and have been holding them to wear over holiday break. Since I didn’t bother with picking up a new holiday dress this year (last Christmas’s will work just fine), these new pajamas will take its place as my new festive ensemble for the season. I’m already looking forward to spending a full day in my Christmasy pjs while watching Netflix and enjoying holiday leftovers. Can’t wait!!
4. Finish Up My Holiday Greetings Cards
If you caught this reflection on holiday greeting cards, you’ll know this old-fashioned tradition is one I believe in keeping alive and well! Particularly in a year when we won’t be able to offer holiday greetings in person as frequently as we have in the past. Because of the cut back on holiday gatherings and in-person meet-ups, my holiday greeting card list has really grown this year and I am determined to get them all out by Dec. 21st (at the latest)!
5. Donate to Local Nonprofits Supporting My Community
For Giving Tuesday this year, I focused on a number of important causes and my plans to give will continue through the holiday season (and always). My holiday 2020 bucket list aims to focus on nonprofits in my own backyard who are in immediate need to provide food, PPE, winter outerwear and more to those in need ahead of what’s projected to be a very difficult winter.
6. Take a Full Week Off (At Least)
On paper, I’m not afraid to book myself time off but ultimately I always end up doing work anyhow. What can I say? After a day or two, I feel ready to start doing something! Well this holiday season, I’m determined to really hit the pause button. Right now I’m thinking the full week of Christmas I’ll be offline – returning after Christmas for end-of-year related posts I’m looking forward to. (Yes. The Best of 2020 Beauty is coming!!!)
7. Play Christmas Carols on the Piano
Last but not least, I’m absolutely planning to carve some time out for tinkling away at the piano to the tune of my favorite holiday carols. While playing the piano is a hobby I’ve sadly gotten away from in my adult life, I do enjoy revisiting this skill over the holiday season and look forward to fumbling my way through all the festive classics!
Thank you fore reading!! I hope you and your loved ones are staying well and enjoying a wonderful holiday season. What’s on your festive bucket list? I’d love to hear!
