Reflecting on 5 things I’m grateful for during these difficult days.
Hello there, my fellow dreamer! I sincerely hope you and your loved ones are staying well. Today’s post is all about gratitude and feeling grateful for the things around me at the moment! Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’m grateful for and trying to appreciate as much as I can during a time of such uncertainty.
Truth is, this pandemic hasn’t been the easiest time for me. I’ve felt anxious. I’ve felt frustrated. I’ve felt lost. I’ve felt confused. I’ve even felt angry some days. It’s such uncharted territory for many of us and I try to remind myself that feeling a roller coaster of emotions is actually okay. It’s good to be kind with ourselves right now – in addition to each other. There’s no guidebook for this so we’re all taking it day by day.
One way I’ve been focusing on keeping my spirits up? Clinging to feelings of gratitude. There’s definitely a lot I would change about my circumstances and the world circumstances at the moment. But, while I cannot control as much as I wish I could, I can control my own reality. With that in mind, trying to keep the positive vibes flowing as best I can is sometimes the only thing I can do.
5 Things I’m Grateful For
Gratitude has been on my mind a lot lately, but when I spotted this post from Politics of Pretty on five things shes grateful for – it made me want to share my own list. Almost every day I’ve also been taking to my gratitude journal to jot things down in private, but I thought maybe putting a public list on Dream in Lace might inspire someone else to reflect on what they’re grateful for at the moment.
No doubt: this is a crummy time. But, I think we can all find things we’re grateful for in our lives — big or small.
So with no more ado, I present 5 things I’m grateful for right now!!
5 Things I’m Grateful For Right Now
Music
Music is definitely one of those things I’m grateful for at all times – but especially these days. There’s a healing power to it. It can lift you up, touch your soul and help you channel your emotions – whatever they may be.
Right now I’m especially glad I have Amazon Music to turn to because wow have I been digging through the archives and going all over the place! I pop my headphones in at night and just bounce around, listening to whatever my heart desires. From old school bands like Third Eye Blind to new releases from The Weeknd and all the way to classics like The Beatles and Johnny Cash. There’s no telling what each “listen session” will bring, but no matter what I listen to – music has a way of really picking my spirits up off the ground.
A Beautiful Spring
Over the last few years, we’ve bypassed spring altogether. Winter has gone right into the scorching summer heat! And I had no idea how much I truly missed spring until it found its way to us once again this year.
Enjoying a beautiful spring has brought me so much joy over the last two months! With the gyms closed, I’ve been getting outside more for long walks and as I go along I’ve been snapping pictures of all the blooms I come across. It’s almost become a bit of a game, looking for all the tulips and daffodils I can find! Oh and the green. The green! It’s been so refreshing to enjoy lush green landscapes after such a bleak, gray winter. During such a hard time, having a beautiful spring has definitely been a silver lining.
Health
During a global pandemic, it seems obvious that one of the things I’m grateful for would be health. But it has to be said!
Both my health and the health of those around me right now is really something to appreciate. So many have lost loved ones to the COVID-19 virus. Even more know someone who has had it. I’m fortunate to say I don’t know anyone who has had it and everyone around me has stayed in good health throughout this entire situation. Truly something to be grateful for!!
Time to Think
I’ve had more time to sit and think lately than I ever have — and it’s been a good thing. At first when I went into lockdown, I didn’t give myself much time to think. Almost as an act of denial and rebellion, I tried to fill my mind with as much as I could. But as things progressed, I eased into the slower pace of this chapter in my life.
In many ways, I think I’m much clearer on my goals and what I want to happen in the next chapter of my life than I would’ve been had this crisis not arisen. I’ve been able to really listen to myself and think – a lot. It sounds so simple, but having time to think is absolutely one of those things I’m grateful for most. Here’s to taking more time to think from here on out!
