Woah, there we’re pulling into August already. What?! Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor for a minute. July was one heck of a crazy month in my world, but I had some beauty and life favorites that thankfully had the time passing as pleasantly as possible. Here are my July Beauty and Life Favorites!
L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation
In case you missed it, I shared a First Impression review of this foundation on my new YouTube channel here, and it was LOVE. Guys, meet my holy grail drugstore foundation – when I didn’t even THINK such a thing could ever exist. Slay it, L’oreal. You slay!
YSL Baby Doll Volume Effet Mascara
Hello there, old friend! After a consistent effort to finish off other mascaras, (and a new love of Dior’s Iconic Overcurl Mascara), I’ve been kind of backburning this standby favorite – but in July, I threw caution to the wind and reignited the flame with what I commonly refer to as ‘bae’ – aka, the best mascara…ever.
EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm in ‘Sweet Mint’
Here’s a shocker for you: I’ve never tried an EOS lip balm before. A longtime fan of Philosophy’s lip balm, and straight up Vaseline – I never caved to the hype these guys receive. Cut to, me standing tap-tapping my foot in line at Ulta when I plucked this up and it’s been love ever since. I’m a big fan of mint chocolate chip ice cream – and this is seriously just as good, without the calories. Dare I say, I’m a convert? Yes!
Stila ‘In the Moment’ Eyeshadow Palette
I’ve sung praises of Stila’s In the Moment palette several times on here, but guess what…I am again. It’s like I’ll always come back to my Stila ‘In the…’ palettes, and being that purple is my favorite of all favorite colors, this one holds a deeper place in my heart than the rest. Purples, neutrals, golds, browns and a matte black? What more do you need?! (Okay, maybe a matte brown. That would be appreciated.)
Kate Spade New York Initial Court Bracelet
In case you live on planet Mars and missed it, the Nordstrom anniversary #NSale was this month. Not sure how you could’ve missed it, as basically every blogger and woman with a remote appreciation for shopping was talking about it full stop, but one of my picks was this dainty charm bracelet from our pal Kate Spade. I’ve always favored ‘statement’ pieces of jewelry, but lately…I’m all about the little details. Love this guy!
‘Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter’ by Louise Pentland
When I tell you I’ve never been more proud of a published author than I am of Louise (aka, A Sprinkle of Glitter) I am not joking. Her book was such a massive favorite of mine throughout July, even before I had it. Just seeing someone so lovable, caring and relatable achieve her dreams puts a warm bug in my heart. The book’s not released in the US until September, but simply not being able to wait I snagged it off eBay. Boy am I glad I did, as it’s the most adorable book filled with all sorts of gems – and Louise-isms. Be warned, a full *gush fest* (review) will be coming soon!
Borghese Fango Active Micellar Water
I did a full review on this earlier in the month here, so I won’t rag on too much – but I will say, the Micellar water from Borghese has absolutely become an everyday staple in my skincare routine. I use this at night to swiftly remove pesky eye makeup, and in the morning for a quick ‘refresh’ before moisturizer and foundation. It’s such a welcomed treat!
And because I’m feeling chatty, here are some other non-beauty related favs:
The Newsroom
I recently got HBO access again, and after catching up on Veep – immediately I turned my attention back to The Newsroom. When season one launched, I consumed the full thing in I believe one day. *maybe* Two. (But, probably one.) Never had I seen a show that so expertly shaped reality in the most provocative, yet honest way. In July, I devoured season 2 and 3. It may not be the most popular show of all time, the longest running or acclaimed – but I kid you not, The Newsroom absolutely deserves its special place in TV history.
True Detective (Season 2)
Another HBO wonder: the second season of True Detective. If you scroll the tag every week, you’ll find that reviews are not overwhelmingly positive for the second season. Most people don’t get it, but I’m happy to report that I not only get it — I AM OBSESSED with it! Seriously. Season 2 is darker, grittier and more shocking than season 1. It’s like season 1 was the universally tame season – and now Nic Pizzolatto is REALLY taking flight! No, it’s definitely not for everyone. But, if you’re looking for the New York Times crossword puzzle of crime dramas – season two of True Detective is for you! (P.S. Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch aren’t bad to look at. Oh, and Rachel McAdams has some major chops we never knew about.)
Blueberry Pie
I’ve enjoyed two food comas this month, and both were self-induced by my own personal blueberry pie recipe. Which, if you haven’t tried yet….really need to. No, seriously. Read the recipe here!
On that tasty note of blueberry pie, I leave you to enjoy the month of August! Thank you for reading, and let me know what beauty, TV and books you were loving in the month of July. Pie too, because pie never hurts!
Keep your dreams burning bright!

I also love Louise’s book, it’ll be one I will keep and flick through for a long time. I’ve never tried the eos lip balms but I want to give them a go – I’ve heard so many great things about them!
