Introducing the Alana Mitchell skincare line – that might just be the perfect products for fall!!
Hello there, dreamers!! It’s officially fall, which means I can finally spill the beans on my new favorite cleanser (among other skincare gems). When 2017 began, one of my beauty objectives was to branch out of my Philosophy skincare rut….so when Skincare by Alana emailed to ask if I’d be interested in trying some of their skincare products – I said YES!
(The email also mentioned that the Alana Mitchell skincare line hosts commercials on the Hallmark channel. Given my chronic obsession to their feel-good, albeit formulaic, movies…I was in!!)
Alana Mitchell Skincare – Experienced & Natural
Inside the pretty parcel I received in the mail was a full selection of Alana Mitchell skincare products, ranging from a foaming cleanser, to moisturizers and even a facial oil. For her personal skincare line, Alana Mitchell puts her Esthetician background to use by creating a line of products that fuses scientific and organic ingredients for optimal results.
When perusing the skincare range, I was mighty impressed with how affordable the products are. One thing many people say they want to get done is some form of cosmetic surgery done to revitalize their appearance. But this isn’t for everyone! As mentioned, I’ve been a longtime user of Philsophy…as well as brands like Kiehl’s, Estee Lauder, Michael Todd and Lancome. While all of the above are fabulous, their products can be a bit pricey — especially when you want to branch out to include extras like toners, serums and facial oils.
The Alana Mitchell skincare products clock in at a very reasonable price point. Her retinoid eye cream will run you $39, a cleanser at $32 and an ultra rich and luxurious facial oil at $49.
To help familiarize you with the line, let me walk you through everything I’ve tried and share my thoughts.
Fair warning, I REALLY wanted to get to know these products before sharing my thoughts and so have A LOT of things to say. I’ve been using the Alana Mitchell skincare for well over a month now…so pull up a chair and settle in for one very chatty post!!
(Truly, this is essentially five posts in one. #NoRegrets!)
Alana Mitchell Foaming Pumpkin Cleanser
Okay, first of the Alana Mitchell skincare products I want to discuss is their AMAZING pumpkin cleanser. Truly, this is like a pumpkin spiced latte for the face. It’s fragrant, invigorating and surprisingly powerful. Since it is a foaming cleanser with a more lightweight consistency, I wasn’t sure it would be strong enough to cut through layers of makeup atop my heavier foundations.
In the end, though, I was wrong. Whether on its own or coupled with my Clarisonic, the cleanser does a stand up job of not just making me smile with its autumnal scent…but making a full face of makeup vanish in no time flat. When you rinse your face, you’ll get that satisfying experience of watching your day’s makeup circle and rinse down the drain.
Made with aloe, pumpkin, carrot seed oil and ginger – the cleanser is quite refreshing on the skin. An added bonus? This pumpkin gem also balances the PH levels of your skin – virtually eliminating the need for a toner. I hear that natural skincare products do something similar, if you’re interested buy natural skincare products australia to discover how different products work for you.
Alana Mitchell Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum
A product I highly recommend everyone add to their skincare routine? A serum. During the summer months I apply a facial serum just at night but in the winter and autumn months when my skin is in need of extra moisture? Twice a day. Alana Mitchell skincare features a supremely moisturizing serum with 20% Hyaluronic acid to bind moisture to the skin and plump fine lines.
Given my chronic (and unreasonable) fear of wrinkles, I’m all over this. For a serum, I also think $39 for 2 ounces is more than reasonable. Yes, yes!
Every night after cleansing, I add two pumps of this to my hands and massage into my face. In the PEAK of summer when the heat and humidity was extreme, I would use this on its own…foregoing a moisturizer afterward…and found it works beautifully as a one-step moisturizer if you’re in a rush.
Alana Mitchell Daily Vitamin C Moisturizer
Next up in the Alana Mitchell skincare line is this daily moisturizer, that works virtually on all skin types.
Have sensitive skin, though? This in particular would be a product for you as the Vitamin C is very soothing to sensitive skin and reduces any inflammation.
Similar to the pumpkin cleanser, this is so naturally fragrant you will want to eat it up. It smells like citrus heaven and applies so evenly to the skin. Don’t know about you, but I’m not a big fan of moisturizers that are uber greasy and take forever to absorb. This seeps into your skin beautifully and works perfectly beneath a full face of makeup.
An added perk of this moisturizer is that it’s great for rosacea and eczema. Now, I don’t have a rosacea…but I am bothered by a few spots of eczema…so of course I had to put that claim to the test. Even though my eczema is not on my face, I wanted to give this a try and I’m thrilled to report it did ease up a recent breakout I had. While I do have a prescription ointment for my eczema, I’m not to keen on using it very often because it’s super drying. The Alana Mitchell moisturizer was much kinder to that skin area, treating my eczema patches while also soothing and moisturizing the skin.
Alana Mitchell Night R1 Retinol Facial Oil
It’s actually crazy to me that there was a time I was afraid of facial oils. I had this silly fear that they would make me break out, which is crazy when you think about how your skin naturally produces oil (which is a good thing). Not to mention, oil is very soothing and moisturizing…which by definition would make it a slam dunk skincare product right?
Anywho…Alana Mitchell makes a nighttime facial oil with retinol that is my new best friend. Made from a variety of uber fabulous ingredients like rosehip seed, avocado and coconut oil…I apply this nightly after the serum. I use a dropper to drop two healthy-sized drops on each cheek and then massage into my skin.
The results are amazing! My skin responds to this facial oil so well, especially if I’m recovering from sleepless nights or a long day out in the sun. In fact, this something so fabulous about this facial oil that I literally feel like I’m enjoying a spa experience every night when I use it. It’s truly the perfect way to wind down at the end of the day and give your skin the rest and nutrients it needs to stay healthy (and as ageless as possible).
Alana Mitchell Anti-Aging Peptide Eye Cream
I’m telling you, this Alana Mitchell eye cream is much more thick and creamy than I ever thought it would be. Think Philosophy’s classic Eye Hope…times 1,000. For reals. It’s ultra rich and comforting to the eyes, while also including vitamin E for repairing any damage to your skin.
As I mentioned above, I’m afraid of all wrinkles – but particularly crow’s feet. I do everything in my power to prevent those pesky wrinkles by my eyes from springing up and this eye cream is the latest tool in my arsenal.
Probably my favorite eye moisturizer that I’ve purchased again…and again…is the Philosophy Miracle Worker. That’s a gel and rings up at nearly $70 a pop. Luckily, the ingredients closely match up to the Alana Mitchell cream at a MUCH reasonable price of $39 a bottle. Keeping crow’s feet at bay and saving myself some money? Win, win.
*Whew* Thanks for reading!!
Hopefully that wasn’t too much information but I really wanted to chat about all the Alana Mitchell skincare products I’ve tried at once…rather than in reviews one-by-one. And if you’re interested in even more, check out dermaplaning. I hear it works wonders for skin! Personally, I love longer posts that overview a selection of products…so I hope you enjoyed this as well.
In addition to all the information I’ve already shared, I did want to give a shout out to Alana Mitchell’s skincare line for being entirely cruelty free and PETA-approved. Thankfully that’s a trend that’s taking off more and more, but I always want to be sure to celebrate that as well.
Thank you to the team at Skincare by Alana for sending me these wonderful products and to YOU for reading this very lengthy post. There are a few items I didn’t cover, so be sure to hop over to Alana’s website to see ALL of the skincare products in her range. (Including a face mask that sounds divine. Definitely picking that up!)
