When Girls Just Wanna Have Fun played loudly at the finale of the Nicole Miller presentation at New York Fashion Week, the spirit of fun was definitely in the air. From the beautiful collection to the smiles shining brightly on the models’ faces, fun stole the show. Like a breath of fresh air, Nicole Miller masterminded an original collection that poignantly touched those in its presence. I have to confess that I absolutely L-O-V-E this collection. It’s fun, flirty, romantic and creative. It hits every beat, as well as crafting its own. One-of-a kind.
Throwing the rule book out the window, Nicole Miller mixed florals, black and white, and fabrics together in a genius concoction to reveal these eclectic yet polished looks. The phrase ‘organized chaos’ comes to mind as bits were thrown together to somehow create a rather direct vision.
In braided up-dos and plum lips, models floated down the runway wearing intricately styled looks. Rules? What rules? Mix together prints, fabrics, tiered necklaces and even green hair. It all works in the world of Nicole Miller and the finished product is very satisfying on the eyes.
A trend that’s definitely not going anywhere, is the ongoing theme of black and white. Nicole Miller presented this staple color duo in an array of styles. From skinny ponte pants, to crop tops and pencil skirts…oh and an evening gown on top. From head to toe, black and white paraded down the runway, marching to the beat of its own drum.
But, just when you think things are becoming predictable, the looks are shaken up and we’re introduced to this line of vibrant blue print pieces.
On paper, this collection might raise a few eyebrows, but pulled together in person…its an inventive winner. Feminine and youthful, the show represents all that is fun about being a girl. I’m happy to say that Nicole Miller has stolen the show so far at New York Fashion Week and, my love for this brand has elevated to an obsession. Already, I’m dying for February to see what she has up her sleeves next for Fall 2014!
