New York Fashion week came and went in a flash, in a rushing current of beautiful clothes and color palettes from great designers, both young and old. But, of course not everything was beautiful. In fashion, designers take big risks on the runway and that leaves room for a few looks that are a little bit…sketchy…
So in honor of the end of NYFW, here are my 5 picks for the worst looks of the Spring 2014 collections.
5. Diana Von Furstenberg
In a show that was all around not bad, this look screamed out to me “Yikes!” I think what I don’t like about this is the high collar and abdominal cutout. I get this in theory, but in execution was left kind of bothered. I don’t think this would be very flattering on most women…nor do I think most women would really go for this.
4. Band of Outsiders
An electric blue poncho the size of Australia with a matching skirt. How nice! When will I be able to get one? Maybe this is designed for camp grounds but I’m just not a fan. I do like the color though. So, props on that!
3. Falguini and Shane Peacock
This collection was a little bizarre, but actually quite interesting…until this came down the runway. There’s something about this that reminds me of Anatomy class, and not in a good way. I’m also not a fan of latex for evening wear. No thanks!
2. Marc by Marc Jacobs
If you ever questioned if Marc Jacobs has a sense of humor, here is your answer. Because yes guys, this is a real joke. It looks like a $29.99 wizard costume you’d pick up at Costume Castle. And what’s with the shoes? Step off the Hogwarts express Marc.
No surprise here, if you read my full Marchesa review, that this is my absolute least favorite look of NYFW. Between the hair and the dress, there’s so much torn fringe you’d think she survived a hurricane. I’m legitimately sad for this poor girl. Surely she did not deserve this! No one would! Her poor family must be horrified to see their beautiful girl shamed into having to wear this piece of garbage on the runway. Imagine the posts she got on her Facebook wall! Not nice Georgina! Not nice at all.
And those, very quickly, are my least favorite looks from New York Fashion Week. In general though, the shows were either really very good, or just average. So it wasn’t like I had a huge list of least favorites to choose from. It was a fantastic week and I’m excited to see what London Fashion Week has up its sleeves (and of course Milan and Paris as well). I follow many UK bloggers that are going to LFW so I don’t know if my coverage of it will be so heavy as it was for NYFW. But you’ll definitely see a fair amount of coverage!
Now that it’s all over, what did you think were the worst looks of NYFW? Maybe somehow some fell through my radar. Let me know!
