Marissa Webb creates an element of being ‘too cool for school’ in her youthful Spring 2014 collection presented at New York Fashion Week. Collared shirts and ties might sound preppy, but these are preppy school girls with attitude. These are the girls who will probably steal your boyfriend and copy off you in math class.
A fun collection full of spunk and coolness, models skirted down the runway in teased and tousled hair and short skirts. Probably the highlight of the collection though, was not the unkempt hair or naughty school-girl look…but a delicious and sultry shade of red.
In a fashion week that’s been black and white all over, it’s a refreshing change to see red, and a whole lot of it.
Marissa Webb has a history at JCrew, where she worked for over a decade. So it’s especially fun to see her branch out on her own and into a fashion career of an altogether different direction. Where you see JCrew in this collection, you also see the anti-JCrew. It’s a yin and yang mix of preppy chic and sex appeal that blends together beautifully.
