London Fashion Week may be a European fashion event, but L’Wren Scott brings a delicious taste of the orient to the runway in looks that are both colorful and fun in the Spring 2014 collection. Models cascaded down the runway in dangerously high platform heals wearing some really fantastic articles of clothing, I must say!
Black, white and red pieces with seriously sharp lines are the biggest highlight for me. The pom-pom anklet heals and red flowers draped around the models are bring the m-o-d to modern day fashion. These are really universal looks as well that would work for any age both day and night.
If you aren’t afraid to be a little more daring, subtract the white and go for these bold, electric red and black dresses that are definitely sexy. I really love the red-lining of the left look, it’s a very well-thought out addition to the dress that gives that extra pop of color when the dress is moving. These necklines are also very sharp <3
But, perhaps the highlight of the entire collection (and definitely of the red and black range) is this stunner of an evening gown:
First of all, this must be super fun to walk in. The fringe pops to and frow with each step. But check out how ultra-sexy this is (not to mention glamorous). With a deep v-neck and a high slit on the left leg, this is definitely not one for the shy. I love a dress that shimmers and this is super slinky and I really hope to see this on someone on the red-carpet soon.
Electric purple and deep purple are also fun highlights. With texture and sturdy fabrics, these are rich textiles that I see working really well for spring. Of course, I’m always biased when I see purple. It puts me in a trance, a happy place. But…I think my instincts are correct here 🙂
Very orient-inspired florals are also great looks for spring. These colors are punchy, and the tailoring of the jackets is amazing. I also love these wide belts. A wide belt is almost like a bonus article of clothing…not to mention its very figure flattering. I would really love to see prints like these become really popular once again. They are very cheerful and will really never go out of style.
Of course no Spring collection is complete without a little black and white this season, but mostly I’m just in love with these necklines and happy to have an excuse to showcase them. I love a sharp neckline. I feel this entire collection is very flattering for shoulders, which is kind of important to me since I have some pretty broad shoulders. I’m always on the lookout for a flattering shoulder-dress.
So, a very big thank you to L’Wren Scott for spicing up London Fashion Week with this very strong collection that’s very modern and bright. Like the tassels on the shoes, this whole line has an element of fun that really kicks things up a notch.
What do you think of this collection? Do you like Asian-inspired fashion? Let me know 🙂
