At long last, we’re in the homestretch of winter! I don’t know about where you live, but here in the midwest…it’s been a brutal. Extreme cold (and snow) have taken a real beating on me this year and I’m beyond excited to see spring coming just around the corner!
Today, I just wanted to do a catch up! So I’m bringing you with me on an outing as I finish my last few posts on fashion week over a delicious bagel. Yes, fashion week coverage has taken over at Dream in Lace for the past month, but with those now in our rear view mirror we can just get back to life!
One thing I’ve been very poor at is bringing you guys along with me into the world. Here’s to changing that up! Oh sure, I was laid up in recovery from back surgery for a couple months. But, thankfully, things are mostly back to normal. I’m back to work and bouncing around town, only this time I amend to bring a camera along with me more often! Let me know what lifestyle posts you’d like to see. Do you like restaurants? Events? I’ve enjoyed a few ‘day in the life’ posts from other bloggers, and maybe that’s something you’d like to see. A breakdown of a typical day? Let me know what adventures you’d like to come along on!
Today isn’t so much of an adventure, though, as it was a serious *crack* down! Like I said, winter’s taken a beating on my morale and I wanted to spend an afternoon getting out and about, while buckling down to work. Working at home always comes with distractions, making an afternoon to myself with iTunes very necessary!
Yes, there is still snow on the ground – but that’s melting away at this very moment. Hallelujah. Here’s to NO more snow, ice or subzero temperatures in 2015. *cheers*
For my outfit of the day, I was in a gray mood. I threw on some gray leggings and an oversized sweater from H&M. Topping that off with a peacoat by Anne Klein and my favorite pink cashmere scarf from Nordstrom, I was off!
I wanted to go somewhere I have not been in probably 15 years, Marx Hot Bagels. It’s a local bagel joint (obviously) that I used to frequent as a child, but have forgotten ever since. Last week someone reminded me of it, and since I had a nagging craving to go! Back when I took piano lessons, my mom would pick my sister and me up from school and swing by Marx Hot Bagels for a treat on the way. It was one of those little traditions that faded away in time, so it was good to once again step foot in the place…and it was literally, the exact same!
What I ordered is probably really bizarre to most, but it perfectly answered two cravings: pumpernickle and chive cream cheese. It might not look all that attractive (I know), but trust me – it hit the spot.
Over my bagel and a standard Diet Coke I finished my Paris Fashion Week coverage. Serenaded by the White Stripes and Taylor Swift, I also plotted out some exciting posts to come to Dream in Lace in the coming weeks. I desperately needed a sit down with a calendar!
Sometimes it’s nice to just escape by yourself for a while. I got lots of work done and am now feeling ready to take on spring! (Except for organizing my closet. That is always a dreaded task.)
Where do you like to escape for the day? It was great to break out of my Starbucks or Panera rut and return to an old favorite. It has me intrigued to discover new hot spots around the town. What corner of the world do you tuck yourself away in when you need a good work session?
Also, please DO let me know what kind of lifestyle/’out and about’ posts you’d like to see on Dream in Lace. I really do want to bring more ‘life’ to the table.
