In October, I challenged myself to really dig into my lipstick collection and make use of the lip products I have waiting in the wings. Because if there’s one thing I love, it is a lip product. Hence the challenge to myself to wear a different lipstick each day. My 31 Days of Lipstick challenge was both fun and frustrating at the same time. Fun in that I got to discover favorites I forgot I had. Frustrating because, when I find something I love I like to celebrate it – not necessarily by moving on to the next thing the very next day.
There I am, being a putz and overly excited that it was the final day of #31DaysofLipstick AND Halloween in one sweep. It’s not the best shot of the lips, but I’m wearing a true staple: Mac’s Red – which doesn’t get enough credit if you ask me. Initially I wanted to try and wear only drugstore lipsticks, but I ended up caving and using higher end products as well. If only, really, to not bore you. My drugstore lipstick collections is pretty much a consolidation of just Rimmel and Revlon – with a few NYX and L’Oreal sprinkled in. I wanted to keep the fun alive and so in crept Mac, YSL and other luxurious favorites – such as a new favorite: Givenchy! (Seriously, have you tried their lipsticks? Because, you REALLY ought to!)
Being October, I definitely did shy away from bold favorites. I mean, not that I normally do. Frankly, my lipstick life goes to the motto ‘Go bold or go home’, and I think October was a good representation of that. Oh, and I truly am a LIPSTICK girl! Gloss, balms and stains never really sweep me away. I like satin or matte finish – with loads of color. So, if you catch me in a gloss – just know that I’m probably not truly happy about it. I sometimes make a good effort – but at the end of the day, I think ‘Where is my lipstick?’
Woops, I did fail to post every single day, (Sorry, on Sundays I can’t be bothered to brush my hair, let alone wear lipstick). But, I did manage to post MOST days in October and wore something different each day – without buying any new lipsticks! That’s a huge accomplishment, right? *Applauds self* Here’s the grand overview of everything I wore!
Well, what a truckload of lipsticks that was to look up! 😉
Honestly, I should be sick to death of lipstick at this point but I’m secretly excited to throw on some red lips and head out the door right now. There’s something truly fun about lipstick, it’s lively! Lipstick wakes up your spirit and outfit at the same time. Definitely my favorite of all favorites are the red lipsticks, but I do appreciate the more modest nude and mauve options out there. Those are definitely much more foolproof and can for the most part be applied without even a mirror.
October felt like a true celebration of all things lipstick and I’m super glad I challenged myself with #31DaysofLipstick. Although, I confess: I’m super glad to be able to where whatever lipstick I want, however many times I want moving forward!
Do you think you’d ever be up for the challenge? What lipsticks do YOU love?
