Spring 2014 has such a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Not only because the weather won’t be bitterly cold and flowers won’t be dead and drooping but budding and in bloom. The rhythm of Spring 2014 resonates with positivity. And I, for one, am thrilled to step out from the dullness of winter and put some life back into my wardrobe and face. I’m just tired of me being cold, okay? I’m tired of sweaters. I’m tired of space heaters and hot chocolate with fuzzy socks on. Let’s liven things up a bit.
And so this time of year, spring, is when we’re all ripe to color and new beginnings. The darker shades and texture of winter are kicked aside for lighter silhouettes and colors that pop. That moment when you’re Starbucks order changes from a hot latte to an iced one is a beautiful thing. And it’s finally here! Now that it is, what exactly do we need?
Well, we all know ‘florals for spring’ isn’t exactly ‘groundbreaking’ (per The Devil Wears Prada). Putting floral prints into your wardrobe is definitely the ‘spring thing to do’. But, what else! Here are 5 simple things that we all need for spring…so get you some!
1. Color-Blocking and Athletic Wear
The runways were filled with athletic looks, which makes for a very comfortable and relaxed spring. This sweater from J. Crew would be perfect worn with your torn denim jeans or dressed up with tuxedo pants. The new rule of fashion, is that there are no rules. And if athleticism can come to couture, (ala Chanel Spring 2014 Couture) it can definitely come to your daily ensemble.
