Zoey Deutch isn’t a name that circulated around in my head until she became attached to star in the film adaptation of Vampire Academy, which, bad promotions aside, remains my favorite of all the young adult book series genre, ever. Yes, sorry Katniss Everdeen, Edward Cullen, Clary Fray and so on, my young adult heart belongs to a more spirited series that explores much more than your average vampire love story with a tale of friendship, female courage and a revolution to overturn a rather corrupt system of government. Sound good? Right! It’s dark and full of spirit (figuratively and literally) (read the books and you’ll understand ;)) and I highly suggest heading to the theater to see the film. And so, it is with a budding interest in Zoey, that I took notice of her sitting front row at New York Fashion Week and started to consider her as a budding fashionista as well.
At last week’s Vampire Academy premiere, Zoey wore this beautiful Monique Lhuillier dress that is both beautiful and dramatic. She also wore some incredible Jimmy Choo sandals too, I must say. It was this look with a flawless smokey eye that caught my attention and got me taking notes that perhaps this girl has keen style.
To follow her premiere, Zoey sidestepped the red carpet over to New York Fashion Week where she sat front row at the Cushnie et Ochs show Friday. Interest is now only more peaked. Cushnie et Ochs are really the ideal designers to align yourself as a Hollywood starlet in my opinion. Their modern approach to minimalism is always architecturally interesting, safely revealing, never ostentatious and actually quite sophisticated. All in all, there’s a whole lot of love happening at Cushnie et Ochs.
This look I find interesting as it very much channels a similar look worn by Lily Collins, whom I declared the ultimate girl crush in 2013. (See full post here) Lily is already stationed as a true it-girl and mini fashion icon. Perhaps Zoey will follow in her footsteps? I can think of far worse people to follow in the wake of 😉
And of course, as a rabid fan of the oxblood lip I have to give her amazingly bold lip a shout out for just being the perfect cherry on top of perfection.
