January Favorites this month include the beauty and skincare products that kept me happy all month long…but not shown is the high amount of chocolate and Netflix. I do think it’s of note how much of a hibernating bear I was in the month of January. With the subzero temperatures and gray skies, I’d frequently curl up under a pile of blankets with hot chocolate and Netflix or Hulu. Winter’s been brutal this year! Am I right, or am I right? But when I was forced out of hibernation…these are the products that kept me going!
Used as a skincare and haircare product, aragon oil was essential in keeping me moisturized throughout January. I used this mostly in my hair. I’d put on my ends daily, until the night before a washing when I’d put lots of this on from roots to end. Sleeping in greasy hair, I’d wash it in the morning and my hair would be silky smooth and nourished, rather than a dry frizzy mess. I also brushed this on the ends of damp hair after a shower, and it made things extra smooth while blow drying. Used alone as a skincare product, it left my face feeling velvety and replenished. Love it!!
Featured in my Winter Skincare Essentials, this daytime moisturizer by Kiehl’s has been in frequent rotation through the month of January. It’s not too heavy, but heavy enough that it has solid weight with real moisturizing power. And my skin needed this. Oh did my skin need this. (Still does!)
Speaking of things my skin needed through January, this face mask. It was like taking shots of moisture through the night. This was a miracle product and I’m already ready for a second tube. If you’ve yet to try this, stop by your Origin’s shop soon. I generously apply this at bedtime, allowing my skin to ‘drink it up’ overnight and I awake to plump, nourished skin.
I really struggled with sleep last month, and I regularly used L’Oreal Magic Lumi Highlighting Concealer as my secret weapon to fool people into thinking I was fully rested. I would brush this under my eyes and atop my cheekbones and up to brighten the under eye area. I also used this down the bridge of my nose and upon my cupid’s bow for extra highlighting. This is a great drugstore dupe for the YSL Touche Eclat. And who wouldn’t rather spend $12.99 to $40?
Like I said, January was a tough month for sleeping. That meant really getting a lot of use out of this Estee Lauder eyeshadow duo in Raisins. Eyeshadow is my favorite makeup to apply, and on mornings when I was running late I didn’t want the temptation of a larger palette that I knew would tempt me to devote a lot of time to creating a ‘look’. This duo is what I forced myself to use to create a quick, beautiful eyelook…every single time. I really recommend this for an everyday makeup look, that’s so easy you can complete it in 5-10 minutes. (Let me know if you’d like to see a tutorial on this…)
These Milani blushes are great. There’s a great range of colors, they last a long time and are super pigmented. In fact, Hourglass soon has blushes coming out that look like actual dupes for these drugstore wonders. I couldn’t get enough of this blush through January. After a hunt for a great mauve/berry tone blush, I happily discovered this at CVS and it was love at first application. Fantastic!
MAC Skinfinish ‘Fairly Precious’
Of the Magnetic Nude Collection, this fantastic skinfinish got a lot of love from me in January. I have to say, I continue to really love these MAC Skinfinishes. Not only are they great quality, they are also great timesavers. And as stated, I was in a rush many mornings and really appreciated this beauty as a quick highlighter/blush duo. It works beautifully as both!
You can see how pigmented this is and how beautiful of a peach toned highlighter this is. I really loved this on its own or paired with a blush. Definitely take the time to pick this up before it goes away. Love it!
January is in the rear view mirror, but each of these products will remain in regular rotation for me. So, so very good and essential! Please, if you have a list of January favorites, share your links with me or product names in the comments. I’m always curious to know what everyone else has been loving!
