BlogMas Day 5!
It’s nearly a week into December, alas I present my November Favorites. When thinking of favorites, I felt the list was short, but among them is a new holy grail product…and that I believe makes November a big success! Am I right?
I mean, if you’re finding a product that you hold above all your favorites of that product, that’s cause for celebration. And so I throw confetti in the air and announce that product in this post!
I’ve been very bad lately at getting behind in my fashion magazines. I’m talking, like months behind. Right now I have 2 issues of Vogue, 2 issues of W Magazine and 3 issues of Elle by my bed just waiting to be read. What magazine am I absolutely never behind in? Harper’s Bazaar. To say I like this magazine better than Vogue says quite a lot. I find them to always have the freshest takes on everything and the layout of every issue is always flawless. They also have some of the best covers you’ll ever see. So I thought, you know…given in a month where I’m so behind on my magazines, Harper’s Bazaar is truly a standout favorite and deserves to be on this list.
Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection
Obviously Harry Potter is also a lifetime favorite, but in the month of November I finally got around to opening my boxset. I got this urge after reading JK Rowling’s The Cuckoo’s Calling and wanting to relive the magic. Literally. That of course spiraled into a full on Harry Potter Fest through the month and I have no regrets. Duh! It’s Harry Potter? There’s no logical reason why Harry Potter would ever be short of extraordinary.
Freeman Cucumber Facial Peel-Off Mask
I picked this up at Walgreens and it was love at first peel. I’ve never used a peel-off mask and since trying this, I haven’t used anything but! It is the most satisfying feeling ever! Not only does this give you the lovely tight feeling you get when wearing a mask…but when peeling off you get immense satisfaction knowing how much good you’re doing. It’s not only a satisfying feeling because it happens to feel great, but when you can actually see gunk or what not that you get. Even something like a speck of missed foundation when you washed your face, this will pull it right off. All that’s left behind is your very clean and tight pores. I love this. I used it sometimes 4 times in a week because I couldn’t get enough of it. This is my new skincare obsession. Bonus? It’s super affordable!
M.A.C. Devine Night Perfectly Poised Skinfinish
I expressed my love for this product in my full review earlier this month, and that love only grew. It’s the perfect golden glow to get you through the holiday season. This will be getting a lot of wear in the days ahead (atop the mass use it got in November). It’s such a beautiful product and I highly suggest picking this up for yourself or for someone else as a gift while it’s still available. It’s one of my all time favorite skinfinishes. And that’s saying a lot, as generally the whole line is pretty awesome.
Stila In the Light Eye Shadow Palette
I purchased this awhile back and also shared my love for this in a full review. Yes, I know how boring that a lot of my favorites are products I already raved about. But that only shows that they’re truly favorites right? I can’t stop talking about them! I used this in my Thanksgiving makeup tutorial and received sooo many compliments when I wore that. In fact, every time I use this palette, no matter what look I create, I receive compliments. It’s amazing how great this is.
Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Baby Doll Mascara
HOLY GRAIL ALERT!
This stuff is seriously unreal. I got this in the Nordstrom Buy-2-Get-1-Free mascara sale, and honestly had I known how great this is I would’ve used that sale to get three of these instead of this, an Estee Lauder mascara, and the Lancome Hypnose Star. It kicks the pants off both of those. It kicks the pants off every mascara I have ever used. Period. This is the bees-knees. This is the queen, the king, the god of mascaras. Can I be more dramatic? No. But am I being totally serious? YES! This is worth every cent of the cost. Sure, it’s YSL and with luxury you get a higher price tag. But honestly, at $30…you are very in-line with the cost of other brands that are not as ‘high-end’. MAC, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Laura Mercier, etc. all have mascaras in the $25-$30 range and I’m telling you…bybass every single mascara out there and just go for this one. I cannot stress how fabulous this is. I’m done trying out other mascaras. I’m sold on this and just know there’s nothing better out there. Phenomenal!! (Read my full review for more details on how this works)
Revlon ‘Standout’ Colorburst Matte Balm
A tragic thing happened to me last month in November: I lost my MAC Russian Red, which is my favorite red lipstick of all time. Being a matte girl, I’ve stayed away from all things ‘balm stain’ no matter how many people said they were good. But when Revlon introduced the Matte Balm sticks, I was intrigued. Red being my favorite, I played it safe picking up a red because I figured if I didn’t like it, at least I’d wear it just for the red factor. But it sat unused, that is until I lost my Russian Red and felt I had a reason to give it a try…and I fell in love! I literally put this on while on route to MAC to repurchase Russian Red. I fell in love so immediately I blew off the mall and met up with my friend instead and only replaced Russian Red last night (3 weeks later). If that’s not a testimonial of love, what is?
This has a minty-ness factor to it which is really pleasant on the lips. Refreshing. But beyond that, the color is yes matte but I would actually call this moisturizing. Yes! Moisturizing and matte? Seems unreal? Well, apparently it’s not. This isn’t drying at all. Lasts ages. Even if you’re eating and drinking you can have this on. It’s also super easy to apply. I never expect a matte-red lip product to be fool proof, but this actually is. If you haven’t tried these out: do it!!
H&M Red Nail Polish
Wouldn’t be fall without red nails. I know you might think that’s more Christmas-y, but I actually wear red nails during football season in support of my beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. And this was the one I kept reaching for! It’s really just a great a formula as OPI. I know I’ve said that before, but it really is. And I just kept buying H&M polish as they transitioned to the new packaging, because this square-packaging version was only $1. An OPI-quality polish for a buck? How could I not buy every shade they had? But yes, this red got a lot of love for me in the month of November…and I just painted it on my nails tonight, so it’s apparently going to be getting a lot of love in December as well.
And those are all my November favorites! I highly highly recommend all of these products, but especially urge you to pick up the YSL mascara. It’s a great item to ask for as a holiday gift. It’s also the perfect gift to give. I promise you will not regret it.
