Blogmas Day 12!
Hello My Pretties!
And so it is that time of year, when parties come beckoning and screaming your name. When a festive night out comes calling, you have to answer right back with a festive makeup look that screams look at me and happy holidays. There’s no better time to experiment with your reds, shimmers, golds…and so on, than at a holiday or Christmas party. So set aside your muted shades for the night, and go all out!

STEP 1: Try not to scream in horror when you look at yourself in the mirror. Ah. Okay, got it? Moisturize and prime your face accordingly.
STEP 2: Foundation your face accordingly as well. I’m using the Lancome Teint Miracle foundation because it has a gorgeous luminous finish (full review). It is my holy grail foundation and I’m always game to use it…but particularly on a festive night because it does give me such a pretty glow.
STEP 3: Conceal your blemishes, red spots and dark circles accordingly. If you have strong blemishes, definitely set them with a powder. (Ignore the icky spot by my lip please!)
STEP 4: Add some color to your face with a matte bronzer. Use at the edges of your face, and in a ‘3’ motion on the left and right side of your face to accentuate your cheek bones and do a slight contour. Also, hit up the neck so your face isn’t a different shade as your body. That’s never a good look.
STEP 5: Rosy up your cheeks. I am using a gorgeous traditional pink from Estee Lauder, but you are welcome to use your favorite blush. Go pretty rosy here. It’s a holiday party, you can look rosy. (But not as rosy as Santa, okay?)
STEP 6: Atop your cheekbones, use a powder highlighter. I’m using the M.A.C. Soft & Gentle Skinfinish as I think it’s a dream. You may also choose to highlight the center of your forehead and down your nose. This adds a nice beautiful glow to your face 🙂
STEP 7: Using the Urban Decay Ammo palette (full review). I went for this palette because it is very shimmery, and as this is a holiday look…I felt it was the perfect fit. To start, sweep the cranberry shade ‘Last Call’ all over your lid and blend up towards your brow bone.
STEP 8: In the crease, blend in ‘Chopper’. This is a shimmering warm brown.
*Note: If not using the Ammo palette, any cranberry and regular brown will do. To be especially festive though, make them shimmery.
STEP 9: In the inner corner of your eye, use ‘Polyester Bride’. Blend this out into the lower lash line slightly as well.
STEP 10: Along your other lower lash line, use a pencil brush to lightly line the eye with the cranberry ‘Last Call’ shade.
STEP 11: Use a black liquid eyeliner to line your upper lash line. I’m using the E.L.F. liquid eyeliner. Optional is a slight wing. If you do use a winged look, don’t go too overboard. This look is more about shimmery-glowy goodness. Big bold winged-eye looks can come another night 🙂
STEP 12: Use a small angled brush (M.A.C. 266) in ‘Oil Slick’ and line the outer lower lash line very closely to your water line. Also blend into your water line. If not using the Ammo palette, any jet black shadow will do.
