In a word, the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 2014 Collection is: Lively.
And not just in its clothes, but also in its presentation with dancing and bee hives. (Obviously there’s nothing more fun than a beehive.) It has tough leather pieces and it has deconstructed flapper looks. Flapper, in a really literal sense of the word with actual flaps that shimmered down the runway. There was fringe and there was color. It wasn’t a fashion show, it was a fashion festival…in perhaps the most fun show at Paris Fashion Week, rivaling that of Moschino in Milan. It’s always exciting when things aren’t taken so seriously. To see Karlie Kloss dancing down the runway rather than staring straight ahead with her famous swagger. Clothes are meant to be lived in and when you see them dancing down the runway, you really see the life in them.
And I of course love the fringe here. Fringe is my favorite breakout trend of the spring collections and I was thrilled to see Jean Paul Gaultier’s twist with the drama they always infuse in their pieces.
This line is for the girl whose a little naughty, but a whole lot of fun. So have fun, and take in the Jean Paul Gaultier spring collection 🙂
