If you haven’t yet seen the Naeem Khan collection, you are missing out. Stealing the show at New York Fashion Week was this large collection presented Tuesday.
Perhaps the largest collection to date, models flocked down the runway in a marathon of looks that had such variety there is definitely something for everyone. Naeem Khan’s Spring 2014 collection has a quality of elegance that is really rather effortless. Here is an overview of the collection.
In a neutral palette of gowns, Naeem Khan hit a chord right out of the gate. A Zuhair Murad inspired lace gown (left) was the first look of the collection, foreshadowing a brilliant collection that celebrates being a women.
Reminiscent of Elie Saab, an arrangement of black beaded pieces flew down the white runway. I love the range of these. From a full length gown to a short party dress to a beaded pant suit. These work well for all ages and are particularly gorgeous. I especially love the neckline of the short dress (center). It has a very delicate vintage look.
Warming up the collection was a series of bright psychadelic prints. These definitely stood out in this collection and have a nice retro vibe. I really love these for summer and hope to see many similar styles inspired by these in 2014.
Perhaps my favorite of this collection though, are the hot pink and black floral dresses. The gown on the right had me practically gasp when it came out on the runway. I seriously l-o-v-e that dress! It’s not often you see cyan and black together but it’s a very glamorous combination. The hemline of the gown is especially gorgeous, like floating on a cloud. I only wish this was a larger range of the collection. It’s such an interesting color combination that I would of loved to see more of it. It’s so great it could really work into a full collection.
Balmain appears to as well be a source of inspiration for Naeem Khan, and who can blame him? These gowns are rich in texture and style and are perhaps the most unique of the show.
The final look of this gorgeous collection was a stunning wedding gown and veil, a true showstopper. Showcasing this gorgeous silohuette, lights backlit the bride as she paused at the top of the runway before making her forward.
Boy Naeem Khan has been very hard at work and it shows! He’s received a bit of bad press lately so I was really pleased to see him breakout with such a strong collection. This is definitely a high note of New York Fashion Week this time around and if you haven’t yet, I do recommend watching the full collection. There are many gorgeous looks that I didn’t even get to. Check it out here. (Do it! You know you want to ;))
Beautiful collection, period. Thank you Naeem Khan for making my Tuesday just a little bit brighter!
