I’ve heard and read a lot of hype surrounding the Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara. It’s a very buzzed about little wonder and so when Nordstorm offered a great mascara sale, of course I swooped it up. Eager to try this out for myself, I wasted no time getting right down to business. Problem? It didn’t live up to the hype.
Not that this is a bad mascara. It’s just not as great as the reviews will have you believe. This isn’t the first time a raved about mascara fails to get my vote (sorry Benefit, but your They’re Real mascara isn’t a favorite of mine)…I did hold out hope because I’ve recently become a big fan of Lancome. Their Artliner liquid eyeliner is amazing and their Lancome Teint Miracle foundation, remains my holy grail foundation (see full review). To go into this with such high expectations based off hype and my own personal feelings on the brand only to get lackluster results was a bit discouraging. But, not a total turn off.
I will say this does not flake or smudge. It’s more on the dry-end but doesn’t make your lashes look wire-y. When used with an eyelash curler it does a decent, albeit not ground-breaking, job at holding a curl. I wouldn’t consider this to be a very ‘volumizing’ mascara…but sometimes you want a more natural look. On those, grab this. When used right you can get a lot of length out of your lashes though.
Main objection to this mascara is the wand itself. It’s can be tricky to get all your lashes going in the right direction. Which, yes I know sounds odd…but it’s unusual shape has them kind of flicking all over the place unless you carefully apply this before a mirror. It’s definitely not a fool-proof, beginner mascara. If you don’t mind putting in some effort, you might really like this.
It could be I’m jaded by my deep love of the YSL Baby Doll mascara, which more and more I’m discovering it to be my first “holy grail” mascara. It could be I was desentized by the hype. No matter what the case though, this left me a bit disappointed.
Have you tried this mascara? What are your thoughts?
Today, let’s talk foundation. Now, I’m not one to throw around ‘holy grail’ when it comes to products or anything…but if I had to suggest a ‘holy grail’ product, Lancome’s Teint Miracle foundation would be it. This is the ideal everyday foundation that will work beautifully on all skin types. Plus, it is simply the easiest foundation to use, ever.
Recently, I went on an expedition to find the perfect foundation. It had ups and it had downs, and just when I felt such a product did not exist, this gem fell onto my face and it was love at first application. The girl who helped color match me described this as a ‘dewy’ finish, which made me a little suspicious as I don’t like dewy foundations. But, I’m glad I decided to move ahead with a sample anyway. I absolutely would not call this dewy. Instead, I’d say this gives a very natural luminous look. So if you have oily skin, I think you could still wear this foundation. I believe this is a fantastic product that will universally work for all skin types.
How does it wear? The Lancome Teint Miracle is is a reasonably long-wearing foundation. On work days, I do put a little powder around my T zone before heading out the door. The results? Darn good glowing skin, all the way from 9 to 5.
How easy is it to apply? Perhaps the VERY best thing about the Teint Miracle foundation is how simple it is to apply. It’s definitely in my top 5 foolproof foundations to apply as it blends so easily into your skin, it virtually takes no time at all. Flawless skin in a flash? Score!
What about the level of coverage? As for coverage, I would say the Lancome Teint Miracle foundation is medium coverage. Although, you can definitely built it up in areas that need a little something extra. I will say, while it does give you a fair amount of coverage it does not look heavy or weigh down your complexion. Instead, the foundation sits lightly on your skin and looks very natural. No need to worry about any caking, settling into fine lines or exagerating your pores.
Lancome’s Teint Miracle foundation is essentially, the perfect foundation. It is the only foundation that hit every single mark for me. Others were great in some areas but not in others…but this works well across the board. If this was a contest and I was the judge, (and really it kind of is), I would award this foundation with all tens! It is that good.
Try this out if you haven’t already! I promise you will not regret it. Also, what is your favorite, ‘holy grail’ foundation? I’m curious to know!
